Qualifications

• Veterinary Technician Certification required; must be a member in good standing with OAVT.
• 5 to 7 years of professional experience in animal handling and behavior management.
• Preferred supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
• Proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination required.
• Strong customer service orientation with effective communication skills for diverse interactions.
• Experience in financial management including budgeting and contractor relations.
• Competency in business writing for educational and corporate communications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and resource management related to animal care and enrichment.
• Manage and coach the animal care team regarding recruitment, training, and performance development.
• Foster a customer-focused environment prioritizing safety and animal care education.
• Coordinate animal intake to disposition processes efficiently.
• Manage and coordinate veterinary care with external providers; oversee medication administration and care improvement.
• Develop and implement high-quality animal care processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Lead initiatives using project management and LEAN principles, including maintaining reporting metrics and animal records.
