Supervisor, Advanced Analytics

The Supervisor of Advanced Analytics within Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) Reporting and Analytics is responsible for supporting reliability initiatives throughout the FirstEnergy distribution system. This supervisor role will support reliability analysis, distribution assets, developing reliability benefit calculations for rider programs, and capital investments.

This position will focus on enterprise-wide investment technology that studies reliability benefits, asset health and failure risks, targets capital to the highest risk assets, supports risk-based and scenario driven investment decisions and track's reliability benefit outcomes that support stakeholders and regulatory commitments. Key responsibilities include leading a team of specialists and engineers, providing coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities to maintain high standards to support stakeholders for their distribution reliability analytical needs. Additional duties include overseeing other data analyses and tools which may include smart grid metrics, other data within ADMS and potential new data sources such as advanced meter infrastructure and electronic switching.

The supervisor drives innovation by solutioning and implementing approaches that promote reliability, resiliency, and support FirstEnergy's investments plans in its distribution system. This requires a deep understanding of the industry, technical knowledge, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders to achieve shared goals.

This position is located on site at any FirstEnergy reporting location.

Responsibilities include:
  • The supervisor will coordinate cross-functional efforts to support data analytics, monitor work volumes, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Providing leadership to a team responsible for the implementation or development of data analytical tools to be used across FirstEnergy.
  • Analyze current industry trends, evaluate new technologies, and assess potential risks and opportunities to create solutions that maximize reliability benefits and investments.
  • Overseeing data analysis through evaluating and monitoring progress to ensure timelines are met; identifying, resolving or escalating issues quickly and decisively; identifying and obtaining approval for changes, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring well defined expected reliability benefits investments confirming realization of those benefits.
  • Fostering a high degree of collaboration and partnership with engineering, portfolio, operations and regulatory teams.
  • Managing a team of professionals supporting data analysis efforts. Providing leadership, mentorship, and guidance to ensure the team is workingeffectively andefficiently.
  • Coordinate IT system integration support as needed.
  • Supporting storm restoration activities when necessary.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Engineering, Finance or related degree is required.
  • Minimum of 7 years related work experience is required.
  • Strong data analytical skills, including SQL query writing, Power BI and experience in working with large datasets.
  • Knowledge of the electric distribution system, distribution lines and substation construction methods, emerging technology landscape and reliability standards
  • Strong analytical ability to observe, investigate and interpret a given situation for proactive risk identification and development of creative solutions
  • Understanding of IT systems applied to distribution system operations
  • Experience managing vendors, including identifying and selecting vendors, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
  • Demonstrated experience delivering on multiple dynamic responsibilities in a timely manner
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills with emphasis on building rapport with individuals and groups requiring outgoing, poised, and persuasive communication style
  • Demonstrated executive presence that inspires confidence and conveys overall credibility as a trusted business advisor
  • Able to work independently, as well as collaboratively, with multiple departments in multiple locations.
  • Able to learn quickly and thoroughly while continually recognizing and adapting to changing conditions
  • Able to appropriately manage conflict and work through difficult situations as needed
  • Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel and Outlook) required with core understanding of applicable technical products and/or services.
  • Able to support travel to various company locations (including overnight travel) as needed.

FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. In addition, your actual base salary will depend on various factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.

The estimated pay range for this role is $121,125- $171,000. The pay range for certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, include a 20% differential to account for an increased cost of living, making the pay range $145,350-$205,200.
