Supervisor, Data Platforms

The Supervisor, Data Platforms within Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) Reporting and Analytics is responsible for leading the strategy, development, implementation, governance, and support of enterprise data and analytics platforms that enable reliability analysis, operational intelligence, asset risk management, regulatory reporting, and investment decision-making across FirstEnergy's distribution organization.

This role is responsible for establishing and managing the long-term vision for Distribution Analytics platforms, ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable technology solutions that support engineering, operations, reliability, asset management, and regulatory stakeholders. The position oversees the deployment, support, and continuous improvement of enterprise analytics and technology platforms used to evaluate reliability performance, assess asset health and risk, optimize capital investment planning, and track reliability outcomes.

The Supervisor, Data Platforms will lead efforts to expand and scale distribution analytics capabilities across the FirstEnergy footprint, including implementation of reliability investment planning platforms, wildfire risk management technologies, operational forecasting tools, and emerging analytical solutions. This position provides leadership to a team responsible for data platform administration, integration, support, governance, and development.

The supervisor drives innovation through adoption of advanced analytics platforms, and emerging technologies that improve operational effectiveness, reliability performance, and business decision-making. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, strategic planning capability, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, IT, Regulatory, and Asset Management organizations.

This position is located on site at any FirstEnergy reporting location.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide leadership and oversight for enterprise data platforms supporting analytics, reporting, operational intelligence, reliability planning, and emerging technology initiatives.
  • Establish and manage the long-term strategy, governance, and roadmap for the Distribution Analytics Platform, ensuring alignment with business objectives, technology standards, and regulatory commitments.
  • Lead the implementation and enterprise scaling of distribution analytics platforms, including reliability investment planning and optimization technologies.
  • Oversee deployment, integration, and support of emerging technologies such as Technosylva wildfire operations and planning platforms, associated sensor technologies, and future analytical solutions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional implementation efforts among Engineering, Operations, Information Technology, Analytics, Asset Management, and Regulatory teams.
  • Lead a team responsible for configuration, implementation, administration, and support of enterprise data and analytics platforms.
  • Oversee day-to-day support and operation of distribution analytics tools and data platforms, including pilot, testing, and production environments.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for platform-related issues, leading defect triage, prioritization, root-cause analysis, vendor coordination, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure ongoing platform stability, scalability, availability, performance, and reliability of analytical outputs used for operational and investment decision-making.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and implementation partners, ensuring contractual commitments, support obligations, and enhancement requests are effectively managed.
  • Oversee data ingestion, integration, transformation, and delivery processes across multiple operational and enterprise systems.
  • Partner with stakeholders to identify business requirements and develop technology solutions that support operational, regulatory, and strategic objectives.
  • Maintain platform documentation, operational procedures, training materials, user guides, and support processes to ensure sustainable operations.
  • Lead change management, user engagement, communications, and training efforts to drive successful adoption of analytics capabilities across the organization.
  • Oversee project execution, budgeting, prioritization, resource planning, and delivery of platform enhancements and technology initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, technical excellence, continuous improvement, and customer service.
  • Coordinate IT system integration support and technology planning efforts as needed.
  • Support storm restoration activities and emergency response efforts when necessary.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related work experience is required.
  • Experience leading technical teams responsible for data platforms, enterprise
  • Strong data analytical skills, including SQL query writing, Power BI, and experience working with large and complex datasets.
  • Knowledge of electric distribution operations, reliability metrics, asset management processes, and utility technologies is preferred.
  • Understanding of data governance, information security, data quality, and system administration principles.
  • Experience supporting enterprise analytics platforms, business intelligence tools, and operational reporting systems.
  • Experience managing software vendors, consultants, and technology implementation projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex technical and business challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver multiple strategic initiatives while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical, operational, and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated executive presence and the ability to build strong relationships and influence across the organization.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders across multiple departments and locations.
  • Able to learn quickly and adapt effectively to changing business and technology requirements.

FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. In addition, your actual base salary will depend on various factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.

The estimated pay range for this role is $121,125- $171,000. The pay range for certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, include a 20% differential to account for an increased cost of living, making the pay range $145,350-$205,200.
