About Thompson Creek Mine

The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.

In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.

Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Superintendent, Supply to join our Thompson Creek team.

The Supply Chain Superintendent is responsible for leading and optimizing all supply chain activities that support mining operations, including procurement, inventory management, warehousing, logistics, contracts formation and administration, and supplier performance management. The role ensures uninterrupted availability of materials, equipment, spare parts, fuels, and services required for safe and efficient mining production while controlling costs and maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with operational and business objectives.
• Ensure critical mining equipment, consumables, and spare parts are available to support production targets.
• Monitor and improve supply chain performance through KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage end-to-end supply chain processes including sourcing, purchasing, inventory control, warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
• Oversee procurement activities for goods and services.
• Lead supplier selection, tendering, evaluation, and contract negotiations.
• Ensure procurement complies with company governance, ethical standards, and local regulations.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance reviews.
• Develop effective relationships with supported functions, facilitating cross-functional development.
• Optimize inventory levels to balance operational availability and working capital.
• Establish inventory control systems for critical spares and consumables.
• Lead warehouse operations, ensuring proper storage, handling, and stock accuracy.
• Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics activities.
• Manage transportation of equipment, materials, explosives (where applicable), fuel, and other operational supplies.
• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety requirements.
• Develop contingency plans to mitigate supply disruptions.
• Lead and develop supply chain, procurement, warehouse, and logistics personnel.
• Set performance objectives and conduct regular performance evaluations.
• Mentor team members to build organizational capability.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets.
• Monitor procurement spending and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Analyze supply chain costs and recommend efficiency improvements.
• Support capital projects through procurement and logistics planning.
• Ensure compliance with mine safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Promote safe work practices throughout supply chain operations.
• Maintain compliance with relevant procurement and contract management standards.

About You

To qualify, the following skills and experiences are required:

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Professional certifications are advantageous: CSCP, CPSM, or CIPS.
• 12-15 years of progressive supply chain experience with 3-5 years in a leadership or superintendent-level role. Industry specific experience in mining, oil and gas, or construction is preferred.
• SAP experience an asset.
• Competent with MS Office software including MS Project.
• Time Management and ability to meet deadlines.
• Must be detail and customer service oriented. Must possess computer related skills and knowledge of related programs and systems. Detailed knowledge of spare parts and mining supplies desirable.
• Demonstrated experience managing contracts, procurement, inventory, warehousing, and logistics functions.
• Must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and organizational skills and be knowledgeable of and proficient in related computer applications.
• Must have excellent analytical and interpersonal skills and ability to stay focused on task.
• Good work ethic and a strong attitude toward safety are essential.
