Superintendent - Piping/FabricationPosition OverviewAs Superintendent - Piping, you'll lead field operations for piping systems fabrication and installation on commercial mechanical projects, overseeing crews to deliver precise, code-compliant, high-quality piping for HVAC, plumbing, and process applications. Coordinate fabrication workflows, material handling, and site assembly-ensuring safety, efficiency, and seamless integration with other trades.
Duties and Responsibilities- Supervise fabrication, welding, assembly, and installation of piping systems (e.g., carbon steel, stainless, copper) per blueprints, specs, and codes.
- Manage shop and field crews, including scheduling, material staging, and tool/equipment readiness.
- Enforce strict safety protocols, conduct daily hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and ensure PPE compliance.
- Coordinate with other trades, subcontractors, and project managers for sequencing and conflict resolution.
- Perform quality inspections, pressure testing, and documentation for handover and compliance.
- Troubleshoot fabrication/installation issues, optimize workflows, and minimize waste.
- Mentor pipefitters, welders, and fabricators on best practices and safety.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Yes - Lead and mentor piping/fab crews (fitters, welders, apprentices); oversee performance, training, safety, and productivity.
Requirements/Qualifications- Experience: 7+ years in piping fabrication/installation for commercial mechanical projects, including 3+ years supervisory experience.
- Education: High school diploma or GED; trade certifications (e.g., welding, pipefitting) preferred.
- Physical Demands: Field/shop-based; regularly lift/carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolding, work in confined spaces, bend/kneel, use tools for extended periods; frequent standing/walking/manual dexterity.
- Work Environment/Safety: Construction sites/fabrication shops (indoor/outdoor, varying weather); exposure to noise, dust, heights, welding hazards; must adhere to OSHA regulations, conduct hazard identification, and wear required PPE (hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, welding gear, steel-toed boots) at all times-safety is our top priority and non-negotiable. Occasional regional travel/on-call as needed.
Required Skills- Piping fabrication/welding techniques, blueprint reading, pressure testing.

Pay Range: $90,000 - $120,000 per year
