Who We Are Looking For:

Are you the Superintendent of Day Schools we have been searching for? In this role, you will assist with leading a network of specialized educational programs, supporting students, educators, and school leaders in creating engaging, structured, and inviting learning environments.

The Superintendent of Day Schools helps lead the Justice Resource Institute (JRI) Day School Division, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, individualized educational programming for students with various learning and support needs. The Superintendent provides strategic and operational leadership across all day school programs, fostering strong instructional practices, consistent programming, and positive school cultures aligned with student IEPs and state educational standards.

Compensation:

The pay range for this position is $150,000 to $175,000 per year. The listed range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications. This range may be modified in the future.

In this role, you will:

Leadership & Strategy
  • Collaborate with the JRI leadership team to advance organizational goals and strengthen educational programming.
  • Participate in leadership meetings to support strategic planning and program development.
  • Supervise and guide School Directors, ensuring strong instructional leadership, effective school management, and alignment across programs.
  • Promote a consistent vision for high-quality teaching, learning, and student engagement across all campuses.

Program Oversight & Educational Quality
  • Oversee the implementation of educational programs that meet student IEP goals and support academic, behavioral, and social growth.
  • Ensure programs deliver structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environments that promote student learning and success.
  • Monitor program effectiveness, including curriculum implementation, student progress, and instructional practices.
  • Support School Directors in maintaining strong systems for assessment, progress monitoring, and educational planning.

Compliance & Operations
  • Ensure programs meet all DESE regulations, licensing standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Communicate updates related to educational policies, regulations, and accountability expectations.
  • Maintain oversight of documentation systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Uphold organizational policies and ensure alignment across all school sites.

Staff Leadership & Development
  • Supervise School Directors in staff management, including coaching, evaluation, and professional growth.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development for educators and school leaders.
  • Support recruitment, staffing structures, and retention strategies to maintain strong school teams.
  • Partner with Human Resources to address employee relations and ensure compliance with employment policies.

School Climate & Student Support
  • Promote safe, structured, and inclusive school environments where students can engage and succeed.
  • Support School Directors in implementing effective student support systems and behavioral expectations.
  • Oversee school-wide practices that promote student engagement, attendance, and positive outcomes.
  • Ensure appropriate supervision and safety standards in classrooms, transportation, and community-based activities.

Operations & Student Services
  • Oversee daily school operations to ensure efficient, organized, and student-centered programming.
  • Ensure appropriate delivery of educational and related services in alignment with IEPs and program goals.
  • Support intake, referral, transition, and discharge processes to ensure continuity of services.
  • Monitor student enrollment, program capacity, and service delivery to align with district and student needs.

Requirements:
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Master's degree in special education, educational Leadership, or a related field required.
  • Massachusetts licensure as a Special Education Administrator strongly preferred.
  • Principal/Assistant Principal licensure with significant special education leadership experience will also be considered.
  • Must have at least five or more years of relevant job experience.
  • Must be able to travel and to be physically present at all JRI day sites on regular cadence and in emergencies as needed for program oversight, support, coverage, and supervision.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.
