Responsibilities

Opportunity Summary

As the Superintendent, M&E, reporting to the Director, Field Operations, you will collaborate and lead the team to execute and deliver quality projects on time and on budget with a focus on mechanical and electrical aspects of the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • With a collaboration style, coordinate and supervise all M&E construction activities on site.
  • Ensure project is constructed according to drawings, specifications, project schedule and budge.
  • Maintain construction schedule and identify/resolve problems as necessary and in a timely manner.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the community.
  • Adhere, collaborate, and maintain an M&E coordination schedule aligned with the master construction schedule.
  • Review and update schedule, cost forecast and cash flow with Project Management team.
  • Maintain appropriate field documentation including safety, progress reports, rental records, logs etc.
  • Organize and lead weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Supervise, mentor, coach and train project personnel.
  • Coordinate with project management team and trades to sequence work effectively, ensuring M&E installations do not impede critical path activities.
  • Verify that equipment selections and installation methods meet project requirements and performance criteria.
  • Ensure all M&E installations meet infection control, vibration, noise, and redundancy standards required for healthcare facilities.
  • Support commissioning agents and consultants in systems verification and functional performance testing.
  • Manage submittal logs for M&E equipment and materials, ensuring timely review and approval.
  • Coordinate RFI generation and responses for all M&E-related issues.
  • Conduct field inspections and verify proper installation, routing, and labeling of all services.
  • Ensure all M&E work complies with healthcare-specific infection prevention and control measures (ICRA).
  • Provide technical input to project management regarding schedule impacts, design changes, and cost implications.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with Procore being an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to successfully translate technical information to non-technical individuals.
  • Strong relationship and team-building skills with proven integrity dealing with Clients, Trades and Consultants
