Full Job Description
Home Construction Superintendent

The Superintendent is responsible for the daily on-site execution of custom residential construction projects, from initial site mobilization through final punch-list completion. This role focuses on managing jobsite operations, subcontractor performance, safety compliance, and workmanship quality. The Superintendent works closely with the Project Manager, subcontractors, and clients to ensure construction progresses according to plan, schedule, and Miken Builders' quality standards.

The role & who we're looking for:

- Superintendent running 2-3 jobs at a time, depending on complexity

- Coastal / beachfront construction experience preferred (flood zones, elevation requirements, dune foundations, and salt-air building are part of every job).

- Custom home experience preferred

Key Responsibilities

Jobsite Operations & Coordination
  • Daily Site Management: Oversee all day-to-day jobsite activities, including coordinating subcontractors, inspections, and material deliveries to maintain proper sequencing and schedule adherence.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Direct and supervise subcontractors and trades to ensure work is performed according to plans, specifications, and established timelines. Clearly communicate expectations related to scope, schedule, logistics, and safety.
  • Schedule and participate in required trade walkthroughs prior to work beginning, including but not limited to: Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Millwork, Tile and specialty trades.
  • Schedule Execution: Work in coordination with the Project Manager to execute the construction schedule and provide real-time feedback on progress, constraints, or required adjustments.
  • Budget Awareness & Cost Control: Perform jobsite operations with a strong awareness of budget constraints by minimizing rework, avoiding waste, confirming scope before work begins, and immediately notifying the Project Manager of any conditions that may impact cost or require a change order.

Quality Control & Compliance
  • Workmanship Inspections: Perform regular jobsite walkthroughs to verify work meets construction documents, specifications, and Miken Builders' quality standards.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify deficiencies or nonconforming work promptly and coordinate corrective action to avoid delays or rework.
  • Code & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with local building codes, inspections, and OSHA safety requirements. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite at all times.

Buildertrend Documentation & Reporting
  • Buildertrend Logs: Maintain Buildertrend Daily Logs with a minimum of three (3) entries per week per job, each including clear, relevant jobsite photos. Entries must document active work, progress milestones, inspections, deliveries, or notable site conditions to provide accurate internal tracking and client visibility.
  • Field Communication: Use Buildertrend and direct communication to keep the Project Manager informed of jobsite progress, challenges, and upcoming needs.

Client Communication & Coordination
  • Weekly Client Calls: Participate in weekly client update calls with the Project Manager to provide detailed jobsite updates, review upcoming work, and address construction-related questions.
  • Client Experience Support: Support a professional, confidence-building client experience through clear communication and consistent follow-through.

Final Inspections & Punch-List
  • Punch-List Support: Assist with final inspections and punch-list completion by coordinating subcontractors, verifying corrections, and ensuring work meets Miken Builders' standards prior to closeout.
