Position SummaryThe Site Superintendent will oversee all field operations ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with design specifications and quality standards. This role involves coordinating subcontractors, managing site personnel, and working closely with engineering, safety, environment and quality teams to deliver complex underground infrastructure, including tunnelling and station construction.
Reports to: Construction ManagerThe Site Superintendent key responsibilities are:Site Management & Supervision- Plan, direct and oversee daily construction activities on-site.
- Supervise subcontractors, tradespeople, laborers, and suppliers.
- Ensure proper implementation of construction methods and sequences.
- Manage logistics, material deliveries, and equipment use.
Safety & Compliance- Enforce strict compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Conduct daily safety briefings and site inspections.
- Plan, address and mitigate potential hazards immediately.
Quality Assurance- Ensure all work complies with specifications, drawings, and industry standards.
- Coordinate inspections and tests with quality control teams and third-party inspectors.
- Track and document deficiencies and oversee corrections.
Scheduling & Coordination- Maintain and update look-ahead schedules and daily work plans.
- Coordinate closely with site engineers to avoid conflicts and delays.
- Monitor progress against project timelines and report variances.
Documentation & Reporting- Maintain daily logs of activities, manpower, and incidents.
- Submit regular progress reports to the Construction Manager.
- Plan and monitor materials, tools, and equipment.
Stakeholder Liaison- Interface with transit authority representatives, utility providers, and local agencies.
- Support community engagement and address public inquiries when required.
Education and Qualification: - Civil Engineer required
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in heavy civil construction
- Proven experience supervising excavation, SOE, concrete, utilities, bridges, soil improvement.
Job Requirements:- Knowledge of construction regulations, codes, and transit authority standards.
- Proficiency in reading construction drawings and interpreting specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical diploma/degree.
- Experience with major subway/metro rail projects.
- OSHA or equivalent safety certification.
- Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., MS Office Suite).
Salary Range: $160,000 - $170,000 yearly.
