Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-work meetings to align subcontractors with project policies and safety standards.
  • Evaluate plans and maintain daily communication regarding project progress with the project manager.
  • Partner with the safety team to ensure compliance with training and safety protocols at the job site.
  • Oversee job site cleanliness and safety, reporting incidents to the Safety Manager promptly.
  • Ensure correct daily planning for resource availability, including payroll and equipment costing management.
  • Monitor all construction activities to meet project specifications and quality standards.
  • Create daily written notices to stakeholders regarding completed work and upcoming plans.

About the Job

About the Job:

Arrow Construction is currently seeking a Superintendentwith asphalt AND/OR concrete restoration knowledge for our Sacramento office.

Typical Duties:

  • Actively participate in pre-work meetings with the project manager, foreman, and subcontractors to familiarize all subcontractors with the project policies and quality standards as well as schedules, quality standards, and safety practices required on the project.
  • Evaluate plans, specifications, schedules, and resources with PM and communicate daily throughout the project cycle.
  • Work with the safety department to ensure all required training is completed and all company safety policies are adhered to at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and safe job site.
  • Report accidents and job site incidents to the Safety Manager; submit written accident reports as needed.
  • Ensure proper daily planning is performed in order to ensure necessary resources are available constantly.
  • Ensure that all payroll records and equipment costing are completed correctly daily.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure all work meets the requirements of the project plans and specifications, including all subcontractor work.
  • Ensure that all activities follow customer and company procedures and that a record is generated to document compliance.
  • Ensure that the foreman provides an accurate daily log of all work completed and that as-builts are generated in a timely fashion.
  • Recognize installation issues or errors and proactively address them.
  • Maintain an accurate project schedule available for customers and the company at all times.
  • Ensure all deliverables for the project are ordered and delivered to meet the project schedule.
  • Work with company dispatcher and other supervisors to document daily resource requirements for labor and equipment.
  • Assure the appropriate use, repair, and maintenance of project equipment. Coordinate the return of tools or equipment when they are no longer needed.
  • Recognize extra work and then ensure proper field documentation of the extra work.
  • Provide notice to customer contact and PM of extra work for the development of change order requests.
  • Provide daily written notice to all project stakeholders (customer, company, inspector(s)) of all work completed on the prior date and planned activities for the current date/week.
  • Develop specific, quantifiable, and realistic daily production goals and report back to the company at day's end with explanations for days where goals are unmet.
  • Spend time developing and mentoring others.


Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED preferred 10+ field experience in concrete and/or asphalt.
  • Language Skills: English mandatory, Spanish a plus.
  • Mathematical Skills: basic math and geometry, the ability to calculate volume, area, and tonnage. Basic surveying a plus.
  • Social skills: Must be able to constructively interact with various personalities and maintain positive morale through personal example.
  • Need to handle potentially confrontational situations with diplomacy and professionalism.


Computer Skills:

  • Must be able to learn to use various computer programs.
  • Able to operate various excavation equipment is a plus.
