Position Purpose Dartmouth College Counseling Center has an opening for a Suicide Prevention & Outreach Specialist/Counselor. This position will further our already existing campus-wide suicide prevention program. The individual in this position will work with the Suicide Prevention team to plan, design, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive suicide prevention program, as well as provide counseling to Dartmouth students.
DescriptionRequired Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp PhD plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities - Master of Social Work (MSW), MA in Counseling from CACREP program, Doctorate (Ph.D., Psy.D.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
- Two years direct clinical experience (can include internship).
- Demonstrated competency, experience, and commitment to issues of diversity in the delivery of clinical services and in outreach/programming.
- Professional experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating community health programs.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary college/university counseling center setting.
- Candidates must hold a New Hampshire license or be eligible for licensure within two years of hire. The license must be awarded no later than three years after the date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications - Ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.
- Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with a variety of audiences, including students, faculty, and staff.

Key Accountabilities
Description Development and implementation of a comprehensive mental health promotion and suicide prevention program aimed at improving college students' mental health and well-being.
Percentage Of Time 20%
Description In collaboration with the Suicide Prevention Coordinator, develops a strategic, evidence-based cohesive plan for the Dartmouth Cares: Suicide Prevention Program.
Percentage Of Time 10%
Description Coordinates and assists in providing suicide prevention trainings for students, faculty, and staff.

Description Attention specifically to underserved, marginalized groups to ensure that the programming/outreach is being sensitive to issues of diversity and privilege in creation and delivery of suicide prevention program/information.

Description Engages in outcome and process evaluation, including collection, analysis, and presentation of information to determine that programs are effectively engaging the community and resulting in greater awareness.

Description Provides triage appointments, short-term individual/group counseling, risk assessment/mandated risk assessments.

Description Makes appropriate treatment planning decisions as to the level of care needed, type and longevity of treatment, and whether treatment is best received on campus or in the community.

Description Shares rotation for providing daytime and after-hours on-call crisis services.
