Overview
The Substation Project Manager will be responsible for the deliverables associated with substation design projects supporting one of our largest electric utility clients. Includes yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC/DC power systems, and associated bills of material. The successful candidate will have approximately 70% technical/project management work and 30% management responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Initiate projects and develop scope, schedule, and budget.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering/design work phases.
- Provide QA/QC oversight for deliverables.
- Develop specifications, documents, and requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Maintain project tracking systems and support client coordination.
- Monitor project budget, schedule, and resource allocation.
- Control project costs and support financial performance.
- Maximize project profitability and cost control.
- Communicate effectively with project teams and clients.
- Support development of tools, standards, and processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Business Administration degree.
- 5+ years of experience creating and updating project scope, schedule and budget.
- 5+ years of experience working in substation design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- PMP Certification preferred but not required.
- Experience with substation design and construction standards for Southern California Edison.
- Experience with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.

Wage Data Per State Requirements
Salary will be between $140,000 to 170,000 per year, based on experience.
