About the role

As a Subrogation Team lead at Reserv, you will be responsible for driving leading and developing our subrogation strategy to include validating, developing and enforcing (compliant) internal policies and procedures. Your expertise in leadership, along with your ability to drive operational efficiencies within the subrogation space and foster innovation, will be critical. The ideal candidate is excited about working through and designing a process that supports the quickest claim recovery with the best outcome.

  • Flexibility- you will need to be able to switch from Claims handling to coaching and feedback
  • Agility-you must have an agile mindset and the ability to pivot from one focus to focus in a moment's notice.
  • Serve as backup/leader when the Manager is out of office
  • SME for first-line questions, escalations, roundtable discussion
  • Align team with client and customer expectations of the claims process
  • Serve as a resource for escalated claims
  • Foster a positive work environment, promote teamwork, and encourage professional growth and development
  • Prepare and present comprehensive claims reports, metrics, and analyses to clients and customers; advise clients on claim trends and loss mitigation
  • Identify topics and trends to discuss in team Huddles and Elevated Claims Experience
  • Workshops lead/co-lead by Team Leads, Managers, and other Reserv employees
  • You will serve as the tactical point of coordination for all subrogation workflows, ensuring timely demands, negotiations, documentation, and recoveries
  • You will also play a strategic role in advancing our subrogation operations by identifying process opportunities, enforcing internal accountability, collaborating with claims and legal teams, and helping ensure consistent execution standards across programs
  • Collaborate with global claims departments and other stakeholders to align strategies and initiatives
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to claims recoveries and recommend their integration where appropriate

What you'll do

  • You will take ownership of subrogation coordination, tactical execution, and long-term strategic thinking, including:
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for all third-party subrogation vendors.
  • Monitoring vendor workflows, meeting deadlines for demands, negotiation activity, and how escalations are handled.
  • Tracking open subrogation files, recovery status, aging demands, and follow-up cycles.
  • Reviewing vendor documentation, correspondence, and recovery outcomes for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensuring the team meet Reserv expectations for responsiveness, process consistency, and cycle time performance.
  • Working with claims teams to ensure complete and accurate referral information is provided to vendors.
  • Identifying performance gaps, service issues, or missed opportunities and driving remediation.
  • Maintaining subrogation reporting including recovery trends, cycle time visibility, and vendor performance metrics.
  • Supporting internal partners in claims, legal, and operations by providing clear updates, insights, and data on subrogation activity.
  • Recommending improvements and alignment opportunities across vendors to strengthen recovery performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in claims, subrogation, operations, or a related field.
  • At least 3+ years of experience handling subrogation recovery for auto and /or property, paired with 2+ years in a leadership capacity to include arbitration experience
  • Strong understanding of liability, comparative negligence, and recovery principles.
  • Experience working with or coordinating external subrogation partners is preferred.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with claims systems, arbitration forums, or subrogation workflows.
