Full Job Description
Torch Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Subject Matter Expert in Electrical/Hardware Design Engineering to lead and contribute to the development of innovative and robust hardware solutions for our Army customers. This role requires deep technical expertise, a strong problem-solving aptitude, and the ability to guide complex electrical design projects from concept to production.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical authority and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all electrical and hardware design aspects within assigned projects.
  • Lead the design, development, and testing of complex analog, digital, and mixed-signal electrical circuits and systems.
  • Architect and implement PCB layouts, ensuring signal integrity, power integrity, and manufacturability.
  • Conduct detailed design reviews, simulations, and analyses to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineering, software engineering, and manufacturing to integrate hardware designs seamlessly.
  • Define and execute comprehensive test plans for hardware validation, debugging, and characterization.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies, components, and design methodologies to enhance product performance and efficiency.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on best practices in electrical and hardware design.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including specifications, schematics, BOMs, and test reports.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware issues and implement effective solutions throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Assist technicians with assembly and testing as required.


Job Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in electrical and hardware design engineering, with a proven track record of successful product development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in analog circuit design, digital circuit design, power electronics, and embedded systems.
  • Proficiency with EDA tools such as Altium Designer or similar for schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation.
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC principles, and thermal management.
  • Experience with various communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, USB).
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and safety standards (e.g., UL, CE, FCC) is a plus.
