Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee daily structural construction activities, including self-perform crews and subcontractors.
- Plan and coordinate concrete, formwork, reinforcing steel, foundations, structural steel, precast, bridge, and related structural operations.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and deliveries to maintain production and schedule.
- Develop and execute short-term and look-ahead work plans.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, and contract requirements.
- Oversee concrete operations, including formwork, reinforcing steel placement, embeds, pour planning, concrete placement, finishing, and curing.
- Coordinate crane operations, rigging, material staging, and equipment requirements.
- Monitor daily production, quantities, labor productivity, and cost performance.
- Identify potential schedule, constructability, manpower, or production issues and develop solutions before they impact the project.
- Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, other Superintendents, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients.
- Maintain accurate daily reports documenting manpower, equipment, quantities, progress, delays, and significant project activities.
Safety & Quality- Promote and enforce Ames Construction's safety culture and expectations.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety plans.
- Lead and participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, pre-task planning, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Maintain strong knowledge of structural construction hazards, including fall protection, excavation and shoring, crane and rigging operations, formwork, falsework, and concrete placement.
- Perform regular field inspections to ensure work meets plans, specifications, quality requirements, and applicable codes.
- Coordinate required testing and inspections and ensure deficiencies or punch-list items are resolved promptly.
Leadership- Lead, mentor, and develop Foremen, Leadmen, craft employees, and future field leaders.
- Establish clear daily production and safety expectations for crews.
- Hold employees and subcontractors accountable for safety, quality, production, and schedule performance.
- Assist with workforce planning, crew sizing, and manpower needs.
- Build a field culture centered on teamwork, accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications- 7+ years of structural/heavy civil construction experience, with significant field leadership experience.
- 3+ years in a Superintendent, General Foreman, or comparable supervisory role preferred.
- Strong experience with one or more of the following: Bridge construction, Cast-in-place concrete, Structural concrete, Foundations and drilled shafts, Formwork and falsework systems, Reinforcing steel, Structural steel, Precast concrete, Heavy civil transportation structures
- Strong understanding of structural construction methods, sequencing, manpower planning, and equipment requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, structural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Understanding of project schedules, production tracking, cost control, and workforce planning.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred or required based on project needs.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability and willingness to travel or relocate to project locations as required.
