Job Summary Highly motivated, hands-on professional for the position of Structures Designer to join our team in Toronto, ON.
The occupant of this position will be responsible for supporting the efficient installation on aircraft of the structure and systems installation design within the framework of new MC2/ADS programs.
Direct Accountabilities- 3D Design of structural modifications, including new equipment and antennas installations using SolidWorks.
- Create Model Based Definition and/or detailed drawings of the structural components.
- Ensure the design meets the applicable specification requirements, and appropriate industry regulations including CAR, FAR or CS.
- Be proficient with mechanical design practices.
- Experience with typical aircraft structures and systems architecture.
- Be able to optimize between competing design criteria.
- Efficiently review of existing design and using that data to evolve or optimize that design.
- Survey aircraft to determine the best design solution for modification.
- Review internal drawings for technical accuracy.
- Work cordially and effectively with other support groups, end users, and consumers of your designs.
- Be able to explain your design decisions clearly and succinctly.
- Be comfortable asking for input from senior members of the engineering department.
- Be able to work effectively as part of the Design Team, but also as a member of the larger Engineering Department.
Education Required- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Aeronautical/Aerospace Structural Design Experience of a minimum of eight (8) years and preferably in Aftermarket modification. (will be considered an asset).
Experience,skills and attitude- Aircraft structural design experience with solid CAD skills (Solidworks, Autodesk AutoCad).
- Computer literacy: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Team player, with good writing and oral skills, initiative, a strong sense of responsibility and good technical judgement.
- Available for travelling if necessary.
- Able to manage several concurrent projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Able to think quickly and creatively in a fast-moving and changing business context.
