SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Design Phase Executive I to join our Structured Cabling team and Inspire what is possible in the booming Data Center Market! They will provide advanced project leadership during the design phase as it relates to customer experience, financial performance, schedule, estimating, design and planning resulting in a smooth transition to construction operations. You may provide mentorship and oversight on multiple projects at a time and/or actively lead a large, complex project. Strong communication skills are necessary as you will interact with staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment. Your ability to remain flexible, inventive, dedicated, and efficient with a high level of integrity and confidentiality is vital to your success in this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as primary contact for owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners during design phase


  • Oversee project budget, scope, and associated communications


  • Manage overall project schedule through people management and achievement tracking


  • Ensure regulatory approvals and permits are obtained


  • Align design documents with project execution plan


  • Resolve technical design and specification concerns


  • Review project margin plans and develop financial strategies


  • Establish and monitor project success factors for all stakeholders


  • Create an integrated team experience through role clarity and communication


QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or equivalent field

Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills

Demonstrate the ability to fulfill development responsibilities for complex projects

Detail orientation sufficient to organize and handle multiple project tasks

Risk management skills

Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level

Positive professional attitude, and strong customer service skills

Interpret and communicate Mortenson policies effectively

Ability to resolve cross-cultural conflict in a culturally appropriate manner

Previous experience leading and providing oversight to integrated project teams

Previous experience in design build construction work and conceptual estimating

Minimum of 15 years relevant experience

Ability to travel up to 100%

The base pay range for this role is $168,100 MIN - $252,200 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
