Job Description:

Airbus Commercial Aircraftis looking for a Structure Supply Engineerto join our Fleet Efficiency & Customer Engineering Teambased in Herndon, VA.

As a part of the Supply Engineering organization, this position is responsible to provide technical support to key stakeholders of the Customer Care Center in resolution of topics related to Daily Repairs, Major Incident Repairs (MIR), and SATAIR by delivering End-to-End Supply engineering solutions across all programs for Routine & Critical priorities in order to maintain in service aircraft availability and reduce AOG Occurrence. In this role you will contribute as a key stakeholder in the resolution of supply related topics (A/C structural parts, systems, tooling) to better support, satisfy, and retain our Customers. This can be a challenging role requiring cross-programme and cross-natco support working in a sometimes quickly evolving environment giving technical expertise and advice to enable the best possible supply solution to the customer.

Your Challenges:

Primary Responsibilities:

With operational link to the Head of Supply Engineering, i.e. SBCO, the job holder provides technical support and supports material supply issues which could include:
  • Giving a spares solution
  • Assisting our external suppliers with technical knowledge and data supply
  • Answering technical queries in support of the SATAIR (spares logistics department) procurement teams
  • Providing identification of alternative part numbers
  • Assisting with obsolete material / material issues
  • Providing suppliers with required design data (DEX)
  • Providing technical support to suppliers
  • Facilitating master data creation/update in local SAP tools
  • Providing information about production/FAL stocks for the triggering of the Production Parts Rob process
  • Providing information about SATAIR stock
  • Triggering the Leasing and Exchange processes with SATAIR Proprietary Repair Team (IRSS)
  • Identifying suppliers when unknown to ASO/PMR organizations
  • Performing Stock Check: SATAIR, FAL , and Supplier directly or indirectly (design office support)
  • Providing data for Customs Airbus warehouse (technical information)
  • Developing technical abilities to gain Signatory rights forRTE1 (Repair Technical Engineer) for creating spares interchangeability documentation (RDTS/RDAF) not covered in Airbus manuals
  • Serving as the focal point for regional support to the SATAIR Customer Resolution Services (CRS) teams including the AOG desk
  • Providing support to MIR projects as project focal or backup for technical spares issues


Your Boarding Pass:

Required:
  • Graduated from a program in engineering, aeronautical studies or aircraft systems
  • About 4 years minimum experience in airline maintenance & engineering activities.
  • Minimum 1 year minimum experience in line maintenance operation on Airbus Aircraft (preferably on A320 or A330 or A340 family)
  • Knowledge of airline engineering
  • Knowledge about airlines' organization and operation
  • Good knowledge of customer needs in terms of maintenance & engineering operational activities
  • Strong technical understanding of engineering specifications, drawings, and processes.
  • Knowledge of SATAIR and Repair organization as well as logistic flows and sales orders process.
  • Capable of strongly defending Airbus Customer Services and customers' interests in front of third parties
  • Proven high motivation and flexibility skills to work in a high-demanding environment
  • Excellent coordination and people skills to deal with customers and industry partners
  • Ability to prepare and present issue resolution to internal and external customers
  • Autonomous, ability to take initiative, customer focused
  • Works well in a collaborative team environment
  • Present a professional appearance as generally accepted in the business and aerospace environment
  • Mature interpersonal skills, strong, polished communication abilities
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
  • Up to 25% Domestic and International Travel involved

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of FAA/EASA Regulation (minimum JAR121, JAR145 and JAR66) is a plus.
  • Experience in Customer Services business and Supply/logistics is a plus
  • Knowledge of Spanish is a plus


Physical Requirements:
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: able to hear and participate in conversations in-person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
