Structural Steel Fabrication Operations Supervisor

Job Type: Direct Hire
Location: Cocoa Beach, FL
Shift: 1st or 2nd Shift
Starting Pay:$40.00/hour (Compensation may be higher based on experience.)
Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Structural Steel Fabrication Operations Supervisor to oversee daily shop operations in a fast-paced steel fabrication facility. This role is responsible for leading production teams, coordinating schedules, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on time.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in structural steel fabrication, team leadership, and production planning, with the ability to work closely with multiple departments to support successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support welders, fitters, fabricators, CNC operators, material handlers, and other shop personnel
  • Coordinate daily production activities, staffing, equipment usage, and material flow throughout the facility
  • Develop and adjust fabrication and production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements
  • Monitor work to ensure compliance with fabrication drawings, shop drawings, project specifications, AISC standards, and quality expectations
  • Promote standardized fabrication procedures and continuous process improvements
  • Maintain quality control throughout the fabrication process to ensure finished products meet customer and industry requirements
  • Identify production challenges and implement solutions to improve efficiency, productivity, and workflow
  • Work closely with project managers, estimators, detailers, purchasing, and field operations to support project success
  • Manage shop inventory, consumables, tools, and production equipment
  • Coordinate incoming materials, outgoing shipments, and delivery schedules
  • Ensure preventive maintenance is completed on fabrication equipment, welding machines, overhead cranes, forklifts, and other shop assets
  • Build productive relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, vendors, and customers
  • Lead production meetings and communicate priorities, project updates, and scheduling changes
  • Enforce OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and a strong culture of workplace safety
  • Assist with employee development, staffing, performance management, and workforce planning


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 7 years of structural steel fabrication experience
  • At least 5 years of experience leading or supervising fabrication shop personnel
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, fitting, layout, welding, and material handling operations
  • Ability to read and interpret structural steel drawings, fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and project specifications
  • Working knowledge of FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding processes
  • Familiarity with AISC fabrication standards and structural steel industry best practices
  • Experience with production scheduling, manpower planning, and shop workflow coordination
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an AISC-certified fabrication facility
  • Knowledge of ERP or MRP manufacturing software
  • Experience operating or coordinating overhead cranes, forklifts, rigging, and material handling equipment
  • AWS welding knowledge and structural steel quality control experience
  • Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
