The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Civil Structural Engineer to join their growing team in Sarnia, Ontario.

The organization has experienced significant growth in its engineering division, expanding rapidly to support a diverse portfolio of industrial projects across the refinery, petrochemical, chemical, utilities, and renewable energy sectors. Providing multidisciplinary engineering and design services ranging from bench-scale studies through full commercial EPC execution, the company offers employees the opportunity to work on complex and impactful industrial projects.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform civil and structural engineering design and analysis for industrial facilities.
  • Develop practical, fit-for-purpose engineering solutions that meet applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Conduct site visits, field assessments, and investigations as required.
  • Support and mentor designers throughout the design process.
  • Prepare and review:
    • Structural calculations
    • Design reports
    • Technical specifications
    • Construction work packages
    • Engineering drawings
  • Review fabrication and construction drawings for accuracy and constructability.
  • Collaborate closely with fabrication, construction, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.
What You'll Need to Be Successful

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with the ability to stamp engineering drawings and documents.
  • Experience in civil and structural engineering within industrial environments.
  • Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Strong preference for experience supporting brownfield facilities in:
    • Petrochemical
    • Refining
    • Oil & Gas
    • Utilities
    • Nuclear
    • Chemical Processing
  • Strong background in structural steel and reinforced concrete design.
  • Brownfield plant experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with RISA-3D.
  • Experience preparing engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and construction packages.
  • Experience reviewing fabrication and construction drawings.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, fabrication, and construction teams.
  • Ability to perform site visits within active industrial facilities.
Compensation range- $80,000- $110,000
