Your Role as Intermediate Structural Engineer
As an Intermediate Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting the analysis and design of a wide variety of structural systems, ranging from underground mining infrastructure to industrial buildings. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including in-house engineering disciplines and third-party architects, to ensure the successful delivery of projects that meet budget, schedule, and quality standards. This role requires strong technical skills, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable structural solutions. This position reports directly to the Supervisor, Civil & Structural Engineering Services.
Your Key Accountabilities
- Technical Expertise & Documentation
- Conduct structural design and analysis for various systems including underground mining infrastructure, buildings, equipment foundations, and lifting devices.
- Prepare detailed engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Perform structural analysis using advanced software tools to assess integrity, stability, and load-bearing capacity.
- Lead site visits for assessments, data collection, and provide recommendations for remedial action.
- Review and approve technical drawings and project documentation while ensuring QA/QC processes are followed.
- Collaboration & Project Coordination
- Work closely with architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders to develop structural design solutions that meet project objectives.
- Participate in project meetings, addressing technical challenges and resolving conflicts to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to manage projects within budget, scope, and timeline requirements.
- Conduct site reviews to ensure construction aligns with design intent and project documentation.
- Business Development & Client Management
- Assist in preparing project proposals, including scope definition and cost estimation, contributing to business development efforts.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, team members, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage smaller structural and multi-discipline projects, ensuring client satisfaction and project success.
- Professional Development & Mentorship
- Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on technical tasks and professional development.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in structural engineering.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in civil or structural engineering, with a focus on complex design projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation, registered with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- In-depth knowledge of structural codes, regulations, and design standards.
- Familiarity with drafting and design software tools.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites applications.
- Strong analytical skills.

Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed in a regular office environment.
- Travel to client sites is required on occasion to attend meetings and to conduct field visits.

Total Compensation
The salary range for this position is $110,000.00 to $135,000.00 CAD per annum, based on the responsibilities of the role, internal equity, and current market benchmarks. The final offer will be determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications; their placement within our internal compensation structure; and relevant geographic cost-of-living considerations, where applicable. This range represents a realistic and good-faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer for this role.
