Structural Engineer III to join our Structural Department and serve as a key contributor on a wide variety of structural engineering projects. Typical projects involve structural design and analysis across a diverse portfolio including K-12, commercial, municipal, institutional, industrial, aviation, and multi-family residential facilities. Projects range from building renovations and condition assessments to large-scale new construction utilizing steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and specialty structural systems throughout the United States. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, sound engineering judgment, and a proven ability to manage personal task assignments while fostering collaboration among internal teams, clients, and contractors.
Responsibilities- Assist with structural design and delivery of complex engineering projects from conception through construction.
- Develop structural solutions for complex new construction, renovation, expansion, retrofit, and adaptive reuse projects.
- Perform structural analysis and design utilizing advanced engineering software, design calculations, and engineering judgment.
- Coordinate structural engineering efforts with architects, owners, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Prepare structural construction documents, specifications, calculation packages, and technical reports.
- Provide technical mentoring, training, and professional development guidance to more junior staff.
- Conduct field investigations, existing structure evaluations, and construction administration services including submittal reviews, RFIs, site observations, and resolution of construction issues.
Qualifications / Experience- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Emphasis) or related field from an ABET-accredited program; Master's degree preferred.
- 2-5+ years of structural engineering experience in building design and analysis.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or intent to obtain within 12-24 months.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing structural engineering tasks and assignments working as part of structural engineering team.
- Knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC), ASCE 7, AISC Steel Manual, ACI 318, TMS Masonry Code, NDS Wood Design Standards, and related design specifications.
- Experience designing and detailing structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber, and foundation systems.
- Proficiency with REVIT and BIM-based project delivery.
- Advanced experience with structural analysis and design software including RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, ENERCALC, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity of seismic, wind, and lateral force-resisting system design.
- Experience with construction administration, forensic investigations, condition assessments, and rehabilitation projects preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting schedules and budgets.
