Full Job Description
The Structural Engineer II is responsible for performing basic structural engineering tasks for electrical construction projects under the direct supervision of the Engineering Manager or Director to ensure the safety and durability of the projects on which they are working. This role will work in close contact with other structural engineers (Preconstruction teams, project teams, and manufacturing production teams) within the organization. The ideal candidate must have the ability to apply principles or mechanics, mathematics, physics, material science, 3D concepts to creative problem-solving.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelors or Masters in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with Structural Emphasis
Experience: 4 plus years of experience
Travel: 0-25%
Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides guidance to Level 1 Engineers and Designers.
• Performs detailed calculations to compute and establish construction standards and specifications.
• Prepares and studies technical drawings/specifications to ensure that designs/installations conform to standards & customer requirements.
• Plans layout of construction projects.
• Conducts field surveys and studies diagram and other data to identify and correct structural problems.
• Confers with internal and external customers to discuss existing or potential construction projects.
• Provides guidance to ensure that construction activities comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
• Inspects completed installations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications.
• Compiles data and writes reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.
• Operates computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
• Assist in QA and QC of fabrication.
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
