What We Are Seeking:An experienced
Structural Engineer for our Portland, Oregon office with 5+ years of relevant experience; 10+ years preferredThe position's level of responsibility will vary based on the successful candidate's experience, qualifications, and capabilities demonstrated.
Responsibilities:- Perform engineer-of-record design computations and code checks and develop contract plans and documents for structural projects, including light-framed wood, heavy timber, structural steel, concrete, and masonry, in accordance with applicable building codes.
- Perform and prepare structural calculations and support documentation for submittal to permitting agencies.
- Perform feasibility studies, structural layouts, and analysis, and provide input on the selection of appropriate and cost-effective structural systems.
- Participate in structural QA/QC and based on experience, provide technical review and guidance to other team members.
- Assist with and, for more experienced candidates, lead the development of project scopes, proposals, budgets, and schedules.
- Coordinate structural engineering work with clients, architects, contractors, other disciplines, agencies, and authorities having jurisdiction.
- Develop and maintain client relationships, understand client needs, and contribute to identifying and pursuing opportunities for additional work.
- Provide oversight and resolution of structural issues during the construction phase.
- Manage or coordinate detailed phases of engineering work and based on experience, assume responsibility for overall project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff, as appropriate based on experience.
Education, Experience & Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant structural engineering experience, 10+ years preferred.
- Professional engineering license required.
- Structural engineering (se) license preferred.
- Familiarity with applicable building codes and standards
- Proficiency with structural design and analysis software; experience with AutoCAD and Revit desirable.
- Experience managing structural projects, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and working directly with clients commensurate with level of experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly describe observations and convey information through sketches, calculations, reports and other technical documentation.
