Description

We are looking for a Structural Engineer to join our team in our Philadelphia office.

The Structural Engineer is responsible for supporting a Project Engineer in the execution of large projects by performing various design, coordination and documentation tasks. The Engineer's responsibilities will broaden to include project engineering responsibilities for small to mid-size projects performed under the direct oversight of a Senior Project Engineer or Group Leader.

Essential Functions
  • Mentors engineers-in-training and co-ops.
  • Use AutoCAD and Revit to produce structural construction documents.
  • Perform hand calculations and utilize structural software for design and analysis tasks.
  • Perform surveying and documentation of existing conditions.
  • Interdisciplinary coordination including participation in project team meetings.
  • Review key structural project decisions with Discipline Director.
  • Edit structural specifications.
  • Review submittals.
  • Respond to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Perform site observation visits and write associated site visit reports.
  • Independent design and documentation of small to mid-sized projects independently.
  • Work with Project Engineers on larger projects and specific tasks.
  • Ensure the design and production efforts are completed within the project schedules.
  • Use Strong technical knowledge and ability to apply engineering principles to unique situations.
  • Review and check work performed by junior staff.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic and commitment to quality in execution of project.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.


Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Structural Concentration, Architectural Engineering or Bachelor of Architectural Engineering
  • Registered PE in at least one state with suitable credentials for registration in other states
  • 4 to 6 years' relevant experience
  • Knowledge of construction cost unit prices for structural materials and applications
  • In-depth knowledge of local and national building and material design codes and design practices as they relate to structural engineering
  • Proficient with structural engineering software
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit software
  • Microsoft Office Suite
