We are currently recruiting for a Structural Engineer in our growing building services team for our New York office. Your key duties - Preparation of detailed engineering designs, drawings, documents and specifications
- Undertake detailed engineering design for gravity and lateral systems of building structures
- Create 3D structural analysis models using commercial software, including RAM, SAP, ETABS, SAFE, etc
- Ensure senior staff are kept informed of important and relevant service/design decisions
- Under guidance of senior staff, attend and participate in meetings with the client and other design team members.
- Collaborate and coordinate with team members from both their own discipline and others
- Plan and help manage and input into BIM models of design work, by working closely with Buro Happold Technicians
- Represent Buro Happold at meetings with the client, other professionals and suppliers.
- Ensure that appropriate service/design decisions are met, consulting with internal and external mentors and stakeholders where appropriate.
Your skills and experience - Typically, 2-4 years' experience in structural building engineering experience
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of US Building and Material Codes
- Broad structural design knowledge, from working on a range of projects
- Experience with wide range of material, including the design of steel framing and concrete building structures
- Ability to multi-task, effectively manage time, and maintain ongoing project focus
- Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way
- Proactive ability to take the initiative, learn, and be creative in a team environment.
- MS or PhD degree with concentration in structural engineering
- Good experience with BIM tools such as REVIT
- Good experience with CSI Programs like ETABS and SAP
- Experience of using computation design methods, using Rhino, Grasshopper a plus
What we offer - Salary range of $85,000 to $95,000. This will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience
