Bridge Structural Engineer to join our Engineering team in Thorndale, Ontario. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will play a key part in the design, analysis, and approval of modular steel structures and prefabricated bridge systems.
As a licensed Professional Engineer, you'll take on complex bridge projects, provide technical leadership, and work closely with project managers, drafters, fabricators, clients, and site teams to deliver safe, innovative, and high-quality infrastructure solutions.
What You'll Do- Design and analyze modular steel structures and prefabricated bridge systems in accordance with applicable codes and project requirements.
- Review, approve, and seal structural drawings and engineering documents.
- Perform structural analysis, load calculations, stress assessments, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Support projects from feasibility and concept design through detailed design, fabrication, delivery, and construction.
- Collaborate with project managers, drafters, fabricators, site personnel, clients, and regulatory bodies throughout project delivery.
- Conduct peer reviews and participate in QA/QC processes to ensure design accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and co-op students.
- Support clients with technical questions, design changes, project updates, approvals, and inspections.
- Contribute to proposals, client presentations, industry conferences, and business development activities.
- Support research and development of innovative bridge solutions, materials, connections, assembly methods, and engineering processes.
What You'll Bring- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in at least three Canadian provinces.
- Five or more years of structural engineering experience, ideally involving modular or prefabricated bridges.
- Strong knowledge of steel design, structural analysis, and Canadian bridge design codes and standards.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software such as RISA, IDEA StatiCa, or similar.
- Familiarity with CSA, CISC, and applicable Canadian bridge standards.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, AISC, Eurocode, or other international standards is considered an asset.
- Experience with steel fabrication, construction processes, or modular assembly is considered an asset.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with an interest in mentoring early-career engineers and students.
