Full Job Description
Profile

The Structural and Systems Installation Designer will be responsible for producing and supporting aircraft structure and systems installation designs within the framework of a new development program, that meets all appropriate industry regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Create both solid models, instanced with a PLM environment, and 2D drawings that meet all appropriate ANSI and industry standards.
  • Be proficient with GD&T standards.
  • Be proficient with mechanical design practices.
  • Be familiar with typical aircraft structures and systems architecture.
  • Be an Intermediate or Expert user of Catia v5 and Enovia, as well as common work packages, such as Generative Sheet Metal Design.
  • Be able to optimize competing design criteria.
  • Efficiently reviewing certification data of existing designs and using that data to evolve or optimize that design.
  • Liaison cordially and effectively with other support groups, end users, and consumers of your designs.
  • Liaison production engineering change.
  • Be able to explain your design decisions clearly and succinctly.
  • Be comfortable asking for input from senior members of the engineering department.
  • Be able to mentor junior design team members with Catia functionality and aircraft structural design practices.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of the Design Team, but also as a member of the larger Engineering Department.
  • Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirements.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields to recommend innovations to improve the quality and effectiveness of company product.
  • Performs other duties such as Internal Audit Support, Airworthiness containment activities and corrective action implementation.

Education & Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering, a related curriculum, or equivalent. combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 5-10 years in the specific technical discipline or broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors.

Experience
  • Experience in Aerospace and preferably Aftermarket would be considered an asset.
  • Liaison, providing Production support (repairs, etc.), would be an asset.

Skills
  • Team player with a strong sense of initiative, responsibility, and good judgment.
  • Able to manage several concurrent projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Able to think quickly and creatively in a fast-moving and changing business context.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
