Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As a key member of the New Glenn team of experts, you will orchestrate the design, development, and testing of fluid systems for the New Glenn Rocket and various spaceflight systems. You will play a pivotal role in shaping all aspects of fluid systems design, operation, and project management, contributing significantly to the team's success.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities:
  • Detailed hand Calc and FE analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures.
  • Documentation of stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings / documents.
  • Making predictions, implementing test campaigns, and creating reports in support of hardware qualifications.
  • Supporting other teams and team members with inputs for configuration development and trade studies.
  • Mentoring and analysis checks for designers and junior structural analysts in stress/stability/fracture analysis and standard processes.
  • Improving enterprise analysis capabilities such as crafting process automation tools for model creation, optimization, strength checks, and analysis report generation.
  • Effectively and constructively collaborate with team members from various fields and backgrounds, adjacent teams, and the shop floor.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree (M.S. preferred) in engineering and 3+ years of demonstrated ability with aircraft, spacecraft and launch vehicle structures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with one or more of the following analysis codes, particularly with reading and manipulating input files: Nastran, Optistruct, Ansys, Abaqus.
  • High proficiency with SimuTech Ansys products or suitable alternate, e.g., Abaqus.
  • Extensive understanding of FEM modeling techniques (boundary conditions, bolted connections, contact, verification methods, etc.).
  • Experience with development and/or qualification testing (test requirements, setup/configuration, test predictions, test conduct/monitoring, etc.).
  • Knowledge of aerospace and/or launch vehicle structural requirements.
  • Familiarity with classical aerospace sizing methods (ex: Bruhn, Niu, Roark).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience with fluid systems and geometry optimization methods.
  • Demonstrated experience with metallic structural layout, analysis, testing, and qualification methods.
  • Demonstrated process automation experience using scripting languages (Matlab, Python, VBA, Fortran, etc.).
  • Experience developing inspection for structural flight and test readiness using specific risk characterization approaches.
  • Experience with analyzing / dispositioning non-conformances.
  • Experience with Creo (ProEngineer Wildfire 4 or greater), and CATIA V5.
