Full Job Description
Strategic Support Rework Mechanic - 33606

As a Strategic Support Rework Mechanic, you will perform complex rework and repairs on a wide range of aircraft parts and assemblies, ensuring structural integrity and mechanical reliability. You will interpret blueprints, engineering documents, and work orders to carry out precise modifications-even in confined spaces within wings and stabilizers. Proficiency with advanced tools and techniques, including precision drilling, fastening, automated machinery, and mechanical lifts, is essential as you fabricate production aids, replace structural components, and ensure all work meets strict standards. You will manage your workflow independently, using electronic systems to access instructions and report progress, while collaborating across departments to keep projects on schedule. Applying mathematical calculations and precision measurements, you will ensure every repair aligns with engineering specifications, contributing to the mission of maintaining aircraft excellence.

You will play a critical role in upholding our commitment to safety and quality standards, ensuring that all operations meet regulatory compliance and operational excellence. If you are detail-oriented, possess strong technical skills, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we invite you to apply and be a part of our mission to deliver excellence in aviation.

Position Responsibilities
  • Perform complex rework and repair on various parts, assemblies, structural installations, and mechanical systems, including plumbing and cable installations, within a Strategic Support Team (SST) organization.
  • Interpret blueprints, work orders, rejection tags, engineering documents, and other technical information to accurately complete work assignments.
  • Execute work assignments where specific methods and job sequences may not be provided, including tasks within confined or closed areas such as the wing or horizontal stabilizer after panel assembly.
  • Complete assigned tasks with or without the use of jigs, fixtures, templates, and patterns to ensure precision and quality.
  • Locate, layout, drill holes, and install fasteners on structural parts and assemblies made of metals, composites, and composite/titanium stack-ups using tools such as jig drill templates, drill jigs, locating jigs, mylars, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Utilize a variety of hand and machine tools, including precision alignment, drilling, test equipment, and automated/numerical controlled complex tools (e.g., track drillers, Gap man, zephyr, back markers, squeezes, offset rivet dies, flex track, bucking bars).
  • Fabricate production aids as necessary to facilitate efficient completion of work assignments.
  • Remove and replace structural components such as skins, bulkheads, and frames to perform repairs or modifications.
  • Coordinate effectively with other departments to ensure timely and accurate completion of work assignments.
  • Perform bonding and grounding processes in accordance with engineering and safety standards.
  • Adhere strictly to confined space regulations and procedures when performing work in restricted areas.
  • Operate power feed drilling machines and other power equipment (hand-held and floor-mounted) to drill, ream, bore, hone, spot face, countersink, counterbore, and finish parts to meet quality requirements.
  • Select and secure appropriate tools, fixtures, machine attachments, and equipment to efficiently accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Operate mechanical lifts (e.g., tiger and snorkel lifts) as required to position parts and assemblies or perform assembly work safely.
  • Plan, layout, and sequence own work operations and methods to optimize productivity and quality.
  • Utilize electronic systems and devices (tablet PCs, hand-held computers, computer workstations) to retrieve work package instructions, review engineering definitions, report work status, and access necessary documentation.
  • Apply mathematical calculations to set up and use precision measuring tools for measuring gaps, heights, angles, hole diameters, and depths accurately.
  • Perform incidental work in other classifications as required to support overall work assignments.
