Inside the Role
Be part of a multinational project team to optimize Transportation Logistics Procurement activities in the essential Material Supply Chain area for all Daimler Truck entities in North America. Transportation Procurement is responsible to manage the transportation service budget of DTNA, providing the most comprehensive and cost effective freight network solutions possible through direct business assignment with best-in-class carriers and service providers who utilize our amazing Freightliner and Western Star vehicles equipped with Daimler Truck technology.

Position offers a starting salary range of $71,000 - $91,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA
  • Provide account responsibility for the planning, procurement and project management of inbound transportation for production and aftermarket parts in North America, including local area transportation networks and cross-dock operations.
  • Support the execution of the Daimler Mexico logistics strategy and key strategic initiatives by planning and purchasing transportation services in alignment with Daimler Truck policies and procedures for that North American region.
  • Develop logistics concepts, gather and validate data, manage specifications and bidder lists, tender and negotiate with transportation service providers, provide decision process support with steering committees/top management presentations, and perform contract management.
  • Align transportation logistics concepts, strategies, and savings initiatives with all Daimler North American entities and stakeholders including material planning, supplier management, controlling, production and aftermarket.
  • Provide information about status of project goals and milestones including the financial transparency and reporting necessary to forecast and control transportation costs.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities within the team as needed.
  • Negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with partner carriers for the procurement of goods and services.
  • Work independently within guidelines and policies to solve problems of moderate complexity.
  • Provide informal guidance to new team members.
  • Lead efficiency projects or process improvements as required.
  • 15% travel - as business dictates.


Knowledge You Should Bring
  • BS/BA with 2-4 years of relevant buying, logistics, project management or supply chain experience, OR 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree, is required.
  • 1 year of group lead / project lead / mentoring experience.
  • Experience with data organization, data scrubbing, data management, and process mapping and design.
  • Experience in negotiations, transportation, financial analytics or related areas.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours/work schedule and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Very good intercultural intelligence and people skills.
  • Working knowledge and expanded professional experience in job field.
  • Understanding of key business drivers.
  • An attached resume is required.


Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • Knowledge of transportation logistics processes and concepts.
  • Spanish language skills are beneficial.
  • Knowledge of vehicle manufacturing industry and related logistics network structure.
