About the Role:CBRE's Strategic Portfolio Management division serves the country's largest institutional property owners. As Account Lead, you will run one of these marquee accounts as a standalone operating business, owning its financial performance, service delivery, client partnership, talent, transformation, and growth.
You will hold full profit-and-loss accountability for property management, engineering, accounting, and tenant experience across the client's portfolio. Accounts in this program span 25 million to 75 million square feet across office and/or logistics assets. The scale and composition of the leadership team will reflect the portfolio's size, complexity, and geography.
Why we want an Asset Manager: Every decision on this account either creates, preserves, or dilutes portfolio value-from capital projects and staffing models to vendor consolidation, technology, and service standards. A leader who has made those decisions from the ownership side can evaluate operating choices through an investor's lens rather than simply manage to the contract.
You will apply that ownership lens to an operating platform larger than any single portfolio, and you will engage with the client using their language - language you also use and understand from your own experience.
The team you lead: You inherit an established organization. Some people will have worked for the client, some for CBRE in a single market, and some for another service provider; few will have chosen the transition. You will shape the account leadership team across operations, engineering, technology, transformation, and client experience while developing the people already serving the portfolio.
Changing how an established organization works is harder than building one from the ground up. People understand the rationale behind legacy practices, and some of those practices will be worth preserving. Success requires the judgment to distinguish what should remain from what must change, and the leadership to bring people with you.
The enterprise seat: This is an enterprise executive position at CBRE. You will lead the account, help shape the direction of Strategic Portfolio Management, and influence how CBRE serves its largest institutional clients.
- Accountable for talent and succession across your organization, including a working succession plan for every senior role.
- Accountable for how risk is managed in your part of the business.
- Expected to act in the best interests of the enterprise and create an environment in which supporting other parts of CBRE is expected and valued.
- Accountable for using facts and data to evaluate performance, make decisions, and communicate results.
- Expected to give candid input before a decision, and to back the decision once the executive team makes it.
Most asset management leaders reach a point where their influence stops at the portfolio. This seat does not have that ceiling.
What You'll Do:- Financial and operational performance. The account result is yours, end to end.
- One point of accountability. Across every market and every property. The client stops managing many relationships and manages one.
- Translation of strategy into delivery. You know where value gets created and diluted in an institutional portfolio. You read the client's plan to understand their investment and portfolio strategy, translate the plan into property level priorities, and align CBRE's operating teams around the actions that protect and create value for the client.
- The operating model. Cost structure, service integration, standardization across markets, and how the account absorbs portfolio contraction and expansion.
- Transformation. Change management, system adoption, and the operating improvements the client could not run on their own.
- Portfolio insight. You will connect operating performance, market intelligence, and portfolio data to identify patterns, risks, and opportunities. You will translate those insights into recommendations that inform client strategy, strengthen retention, and create opportunities for growth.
- Proactive Risk Management. You will maintain a forward view of portfolio, operating, financial, and relationship risk so service failures, staffing gaps, and financial issues reach you before they reach the client. You will identify emerging issues before they become escalations and mobilize the right leaders to resolve them.
- Governance with the client. You establish governance in partnership with the client, including the steering committee, and the operating cadence beneath it. Then you hold both organizations to it.
- The contract. You will own contract governance, compliance, performance against commitments, renewal, and expansion.
- Growth. You will be accountable for year-over-year revenue growth, wallet share, and client satisfaction. You will identify and convert opportunities to deepen and expand the client relationship.
What You'll Need:To perform this job successfully, an individual will need to perform each crucial duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Bachelor's degree. MBA or advanced business degree preferred.
- At least 15 years of progressive leadership experience in institutional real estate asset management or portfolio management, including hands-on operational responsibility and accountability for financial performance across office and/or logistics portfolios.
- Proven experience leading large, geographically diverse teams, building culture, and implementing performance measurement standards and accountability.
- A record of leading change in an established organization, including teams you did not hire.
- Experience negotiating and administering complex commercial contracts and delivering against commitments in them.
- Financial fluency and the ability to use data, operating metrics, and financial analysis to make and communicate decisions.
- Executive presence with C-Suite clients, and the judgment to lead difficult conversations well.

- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25% to 30%, depending on client headquarters and portfolio geography.
- Commitment to model CBRE RISE values
