Position Summary: This role is focused on developing and growing business within heavy haul transportation and industrial rigging projects - including the movement, lifting, and installation of large-scale equipment and infrastructure across industrial, energy, manufacturing, and construction environments.
Barnhart specializes in executing highly engineered heavy transport and rigging solutions, moving oversized and high-value components via road, rail, and water, and supporting complex work inside active facilities. Success in this role requires strong technical curiosity, relationship-building skills, and the ability to sell customized, high-value project solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and expand customer relationships within heavy haul transportation and industrial rigging project markets through consistent outreach, jobsite visits, and client engagement.
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities involving specialized transport, critical lifts, plant relocations, and machinery installation/removal.
- Execute a strategic sales plan focused on growing market share in heavy transport and rigging services.
- Build long-term partnerships with key decision-makers across engineering, operations, procurement, and executive leadership.
- Conduct site visits and job walks to understand project scope, technical constraints, and customer objectives.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop customized heavy transport and rigging solutions, including constructability reviews and cost estimates.
- Prepare and deliver detailed proposals, RFP responses, and presentations tailored to complex, project-based work.
- Drive the full sales cycle-from prospecting and solution development to negotiation and close.
- Coordinate early-stage project planning with operations to ensure successful execution, resource allocation, and fleet utilization.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing ongoing support, problem resolution, and alignment throughout project lifecycles.
Compensation & Benefits- Base salary up to $120K (dependent on experience) + performance-based bonus

Preferred Experience & Skills- Proven success in project-based sales within heavy transportation, industrial rigging, construction, energy, or related sectors
- Strong understanding of heavy haul logistics, specialized transport, lifting, and rigging methodologies
- Ability to navigate complex sales environments involving multiple stakeholders, from field personnel to executive leadership
- Mechanical aptitude and interest in engineered solutions for moving and installing heavy equipment
- Demonstrated ability to develop new business and close high-value, technical projects
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Experience collaborating with engineering and operations teams to develop solutions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn ERP/CRM systems (IFS preferred)
- Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites and project locations
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered
Experience - Three to five years of experience preferably in industrial sales, construction, manufacturing, or professional services. And the skills to be a self-starting and self-motivated sales professional.
