JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Overview

The Strategic Account Manager orchestrates and executes the health system strategy and expanding patient access by forming partnerships across key stakeholders within the regional Independent Delivery Networks (IDNs), health systems and academic institutions in order to support the adoption of Abbott Cancer Diagnostics' solutions to enhance clinical decision making and improve the system of care.

This role will work collaboratively with other market stakeholders and Abbott Cancer Diagnostics teams to shape and execute strategic plans in liaison with assigned IDNs to build the foundation for improved patient outcomes.

This position is field based.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Generate deep insight into local healthcare ecosystems comprising integrated delivery networks (IDNs) and the Healthcare Practitioners (HCPs) aligned with that system in order to identify opportunities to enhance the system of care and deliver improved patient outcomes.
  • Analyze the treatment journey across the local system of care in order to identify opportunities to work with HCPs to improve clinical decision making and deliver better patient and population health outcomes in the context of our future pipelines.
  • Build a network of relationships with key stakeholders across the healthcare system in order to gain insight into system, customer and patient unmet needs, including clinical stakeholders, administrators and policy makers.
  • Synthesize data from a range of formal and informal sources to understand the evolving and dynamic local care system, identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness and share with managed care, sales, marketing and other cross-functional colleagues.


2. Develop and implement business and customer plans to influence the system to deliver improved patient access and adoption of protocols and processes/workflow aligned with the vision for the healthcare system.
  • Create business and customer plans for IDNs based on opportunities to incorporate our current and future solutions to enhance clinical decision making and the effectiveness of the system of care.
  • Lead the implementation of these business and customer plans in collaboration with a range of internal stakeholders including Cancer Screening Advocate (CSA), Medical Affairs and Marketing.
  • Build coalitions and advocacy through chains of influence based on a keen appreciation of the networks of relationships and connections that influence clinical decision making, including teaching hospitals and other sources of medical education.
  • Inform, educate and enable target physician and stakeholder groups about our products and value propositions to equip them to make informed decisions about treatment choices and patient resources and support changes in treatment and diagnostic protocols.
  • Harness data from a range of sources, including provided metrics and information, to track progress against business and customer plans and adapt as required.


3. Leads the successful implementation of health system strategies and business plans through collaboration and coordination with key internal stakeholders.
  • Ensures execution of targeted tactics to deliver business goals in coordination and orchestration with a wider range of internal cross-functional stakeholders, including Account Managers, Area Manager, Market Access Manager, IT Project Managers and Specialists.
  • Communicates a clear and compelling vision for the health care system to internal stakeholders in order to mobilize resources to address current and future customer needs.
  • Ensures that the team conducts business to the highest ethical and professional standards, consistent with our guidelines and policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage time and multiple projects across an array of customer types.
  • Effective presentation skills with the ability to present ideas and evidence-based scientific and economic data to customers in a way that produces understanding and impact.
  • Superior communication skills and excellent follow through.

  • Ability to work seated for approximately 75% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 25% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to travel 50% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds for approximately 10% of a typical working day.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Management, Science, or any other related field.
  • 6+ years of sales and/or marketing experience in the healthcare space, such as the diagnostic, surgical or pharmaceutical.
  • 2+ years of experience in navigating access/selling IDNs, health systems, or academic institutions in the sales and/or marketing field.
  • Proven success working with cross-functional and/or team environment.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license; no suspended, revoked, surrendered, invalid, etc. allowed.
  • No more than two moving violations, events, or accidents within the last 36 months.
  • No alcohol or drug event in which a vehicle was driven by the candidate or employee, including but not limited to Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) failure, refusal to submit to alcohol or drug test, alcohol related suspension, etc. in the last 36 months.
  • No other results from the Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check that exposes our company to be an unacceptable level of liability.
  • Ability to meet any requirements set by healthcare facilities for access to those facilities (e.g. vaccination requirements, mask requirements, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.


The base pay for this position is
$99,300.00 - $198,700.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
