Full Job Description
The Stormwater Engineer/Scientist position reports to the Team Leader and is responsible for supporting stormwater compliance and stormwater management design projects for our industrial, commercial, and municipal clients. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Your responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to the following: • Serve as a key member of the Environmental practice with the ability to step in and immediately manage various environmental projects • Prepare technical memoranda, Exceedance Response Action (ERA) reports, electronic deliverables, and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and review and analyze data throughout the project cycle • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses of stormwater runoff • Design stormwater best management practices • Inspect commercial, industrial, and construction sites for conformance with applicable stormwater permit requirements • Perform pollutant source assessments • Collect samples and evaluate stormwater quality data • Provide training to client personnel regarding applicable permit requirements, sampling procedures, and BMP implementation • Assist with permit applications and communicate with various environmental permitting agencies • Work with internal and external team members to produce successful projects • Other duties as required QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Education • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering,Environmental Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science; Master's degree preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an engineer or scientist in the environmental engineering/consulting field with a background in industrial stormwater projects • Professional Engineer license, Engineer-In-Training certification, or Professional Geologist license preferred • Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner (QISP) certification or interest in obtaining preferred • Experience with Autocad, AutoDesk Civil 3D, or ESRI Pro software packages preferred • OSHA HAZWOPER training preferred Competencies • Must have effective communication skills both oral and written • Must have a strong work ethic and attention to detail • Must have ability to multi-task, stay organized, work independently, and collaborate with various project teams • Must have a strong desire to grow personally as well as professionally • Must have a great attitude and be eager to learn • Must have a current valid driver's license PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with high-volume workload and frequent short deadlines • Must have the ability to obtain medical clearance to work on hazardous waste site(s) • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds • Must be able to work 10-hour days • Must be able to work remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods • Must be able to communicate with others to exchange information TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS • Must be able to travel occasionally, possibly overnight for customer meetings and site visits up to 20% of the time SALARY RANGE • The expected base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $134,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus based on individual and company performance.
