Full Job Description
Location: This hybrid role requires 3 days on-site at our Burnaby, BC office and 2 days remote per week.

What You'll Do

The Store Maintenance Manager is responsible for the delivery, coordination, and continuous improvement of maintenance services, minor works, warranties, and facilities-related programs across the Specsavers Canada store network.The role ensures retail stores, support offices, and associated facilities are maintained to a high operational standard through effective management of maintenance programs, service providers, preventative maintenance schedules, and warranty processes.

Working closely with Construction, Design, Business Development, Operations, Procurement, Finance, external service providers, and Store Partners, the role supports business continuity, risk mitigation, cost control, and a positive customer and Partner experience.

The role provides subject matter expertise on maintenance and facilities management, ensuring stores remain safe, compliant, operationally efficient, and aligned with Specsavers standards. The role also supports the development of maintenance systems and processes, drives service performance through effective vendor and SLA management, and provides construction management support as required to meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery and ongoing management of maintenance services across the Canadian store network.
  • Manage maintenance requests through approved systems and processes, ensuring timely resolution and communication with stakeholders.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs, including HVAC and other critical building systems.
  • Collaborate in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's maintenance ticket management system, ensuring efficient tracking, prioritization, communication, and resolution of maintenance requests.
  • Monitor and report regularly on outstanding maintenance issues, service performance, and open work orders, ensuring agreed service level agreements (SLAs) are achieved and escalated appropriately where required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Store Partners through clear, direct, professional, and timely communication regarding maintenance issues, service updates, project activities, and issue resolution.
  • Support construction management activities and provide construction management coverage as required, including participation in store development, relocations, refurbishments, handovers, and other business development initiatives.
  • Monitor maintenance trends, identify recurring issues, and recommend solutions that improve reliability, service quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate warranty claims and post-installation servicing for store equipment, fixtures, and unitary.
  • Act as the primary liaison for insurance-related maintenance matters and property damage claims.
  • Manage relationships with maintenance contractors, service providers, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Review service contracts and identify opportunities to improve service delivery, performance, and value for money.
  • Ensure maintenance projects and minor works are delivered safely, on schedule, and within approved budgets.
  • Support construction and store development activities by providing maintenance and facilities expertise during design, build, and handover phases.
  • Review architectural drawings, scopes of work, quotations, and technical documentation where required.
  • Maintain accurate project and maintenance records, ensuring documentation is complete and accessible.
  • Ensure invoices are processed in accordance with company policies and approved payment terms.
  • Maintain and continuously improve maintenance procedures, standards, SOPs, and supporting documentation.
  • Provide reporting and analysis on maintenance performance, contractor effectiveness, service levels, and expenditure.
  • Support emergency response requirements and business continuity activities where required.
  • Contribute to facilities management initiatives affecting corporate offices and support locations.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities that enhance store performance, reduce costs, and improve stakeholder experience.


What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years' experience in maintenance management, facilities management, construction, project management, or related retail environments.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and service agreements across geographically dispersed locations to drive issue resolutions.
  • Strong understanding of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and retail infrastructure.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings, scopes of work, specifications, and contractor quotations.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects and operational activities.
  • Strong commercial mindset with an understanding of cost management and contract administration.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience analyzing maintenance performance data and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ServiceNow, Smartsheet, and other project or facilities management systems.
  • Post-secondary education in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Sciences, Project Management, or a related field.


Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in retail, franchise, healthcare, or multi-site environments considered an asset.
  • Facilities management or construction-related qualifications are considered an asset.


Compensation: $110,000 - $130,000 base salary, plus quarterly bonus, profit sharing, and benefits. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience
