Summary

The Information Assurance (IA) / Cybersecurity Architect provides senior-level cybersecurity, systems protection, and architectural oversight to Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF South) at Naval Air Station Key West, Florida. JIATF South conducts Detection and Monitoring (D&M) operations across a broad Joint Operating Area to facilitate interdiction of illicit trafficking and strengthen U.S. and partner-nation security. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and sustaining secure, compliant, and mission-ready cyber architectures that enable continuous operations.

The IA / Cybersecurity Architect ensures that JIATF South's critical systems and operational networks remain secure, resilient, and compliant while supporting high-tempo D&M operations. Robust cybersecurity architecture directly enables interdiction efforts, strengthens interagency collaboration, and protects national and partner-nation security interests.

This requisition supports hiring at multiple experience levels. Final placement will be determined based on the selected applicant's qualifications, experience, and skill sets.

What You Will Do

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise cybersecurity architectures supporting JIATF South's operational networks, mission systems, sensors, and D&M platforms.
  • Lead Information Assurance activities ensuring compliance with DoD, DON, RMF, NIST, and JIATF South security policies, directives, and accreditation requirements.
  • Oversee the integration of security controls into system designs, modernization efforts, and technology refresh cycles.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and defensive capabilities to strengthen JIATF South's cyber posture and support mission resiliency.
  • Prepare and maintain RMF artifacts, including System Security Plans, Security Assessment Reports, POA&Ms, and continuous monitoring documentation.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, risk assessments, and cybersecurity impact analyses for new systems, upgrades, or mission changes.
  • Collaborate with system engineers, intelligence teams, operational units, partner nations, and interagency stakeholders to ensure cyber requirements align with real-time mission needs.
  • Investigate IA-related incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and advise leadership on remediation strategies and long-term architectural improvements.
  • Ensure cybersecurity engineering principles are embedded in network design, cloud adoption strategies, and data flow configurations supporting D&M operations.
  • Guide the deployment and tuning of cybersecurity tools such as ACAS, HBSS/ESS, endpoint protection suites, SIEM platforms, and network defense sensors.


What We Are Looking For

  • Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Level 5: 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
  • Strong background in Information Assurance, cybersecurity engineering, or system architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with RMF, DoD IA policies, and Navy cybersecurity guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop or evaluate secure system architectures and cybersecurity design artifacts.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience supporting joint, interagency, or partner-nation mission environments.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.


Preferred: Bonus Points For...

  • Clearance: Posses and maintains a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CAP, CCSP, CISM, or similar architecture/IA-focused credentials.
  • Experience supporting maritime or aerial detection and monitoring operations or similar DoD operational missions.
  • Knowledge of secure network design, cross-domain solutions, classified system protection, and mission system integration.
