Summary

The Financial Anlayst will provide comprehensive financial management and analytical support to the SOUTHCOM J8 office and JIATF-S. This role will be instrumental in ensuring fiscal accountability, budget oversight, and data-driven financial decision-making in support of mission-critical objectives.

This requisition supports hiring at multiple experience levels. Final placement will be determined based on the selected applicant's qualifications, experience, and skill sets. This position is posted to identify potential talent for upcoming opportunities. Hiring may not occur immediately.

What you will do

  • Responsible for billing activities for customers and various program personnel.
  • Maintains the integrity of the billing system and uses financial and accounting procedures in resolving complex problems.
  • Establishes, maintains, and coordinates the implementation of complex accounting and accounting control procedures including billing operations to maximize effectiveness and accuracy.
  • Audits the accuracy of billing information entered in the system and monitors the operation of the billing systems.
  • Creates, researches, and analyzes billing data.
  • Submits timely invoices to clients and in accordance with client agreements.
  • Explains billing invoices and accounting policies to staff, vendors and clients and provides technical advice to resolve complex billing discrepancies.
  • Recommends, develops and maintains financial databases, computer software systems and manual filing systems.
  • Develops and reviews accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Interfaces with internal and external auditors in completing audits.
  • Coordinates with Collections Department for all aged invoices.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in financial accounting and government regulations. Informs management of changes and provides recommendations for implementation.
  • Complies with all applicable accounting and governmental regulations.
  • Provides guidance to less experienced Billing Operations Analysts.
  • Prepares canceling funds and final invoices as needed.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Additional duties as assigned or required.


What we are looking for

  • Level 3: 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Level 4: 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
  • Level 5: 15+ years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13+ years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19+ years relevant experience.
  • Experience working with Government Billing practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications.
  • Able to understand and solve billing and collections problems effectively.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Knowledge of General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS).
