Full Job Description
We are an established industrial steel fabrication and erection company with a strong reputation and existing customer base, is seeking a Steel Estimator & Salesman to join their Lexington team. This role combines hands-on estimating with business development and is ideal for an experienced steel professional who can accurately price complex work while building relationships and developing a personal book of business.

What You'll Do as the Steel Estimator & Salesman:
  • Prepare complete estimates for structural steel, miscellaneous steel, fabrication, and erection projects
  • Perform material takeoffs from structural drawings, specifications, and project documents
  • Price labor, materials, equipment, fabrication, and field erection requirements
  • Review plans and specifications to identify scope, risk, constructability considerations, and value engineering opportunities
  • Estimate steel work generated by both personal business development efforts and other members of the sales team
  • Maintain accurate bid files, pricing information, and project documentation
  • Follow up on submitted proposals and track bid outcomes
  • Proactively pursue new business with general contractors, developers, architects, engineers, manufacturers, and industrial end users
  • Develop and manage a personal pipeline of prospective clients and opportunities
  • Build long-term relationships that generate repeat work for the company's fabrication and erection operations
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and client meetings as needed
  • Present proposals and participate in contract negotiations
  • Partner with shop and field operations to ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and executable
  • Help grow the company's presence across industrial and commercial steel markets

Must-Haves as the Steel Estimator & Salesman:
  • 5+ years of experience estimating industrial steel work
  • Strong experience estimating structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication and erection
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and blueprints
  • Experience performing material takeoffs and pricing labor, materials, and equipment
  • Demonstrated understanding of steel fabrication and field erection processes
  • Ability to manage multiple bids, deadlines, and client opportunities simultaneously
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable taking ownership of both estimating and sales responsibilities
  • Ability to work full-time in the Lexington, KY office

Nice-to-Haves as the Steel Estimator & Salesman:
  • Experience estimating pharmaceutical, food processing, or other highly regulated industrial projects
  • Experience with structural steel, miscellaneous steel, or industrial mezzanine systems
  • Experience estimating mezzanine components such as structural framing, decking, stairs, and guardrails
  • Existing relationships with general contractors, developers, architects, engineers, or industrial clients
  • Proven track record of generating and closing new business
  • Experience with construction or industrial sales
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with estimating software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills

This Role Offers:
  • Base salary of $100,000-$125,000, depending on experience
