PURPOSEResponsible for the Heat Plant operation and operating maintenance reporting to the Chief Operating Engineer.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Operate, monitor, and maintain boilers, thermal oil systems, fuel systems, dryers, and related equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations.
- Manage fuel supply and combustion processes (natural gas, hog fuel, biomass) to optimize performance, cost, and emissions within regulatory limits.
- Monitor and control process parameters including temperature, moisture, pressure, and plant chemistry (boiler, cooling towers, glycol) to ensure consistent product quality.
- Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and coordinate repairs, including contractor oversight during outages and down days.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation (Operating Engineers Act, Boiler and Pressure Vessels Act) and maintain accurate operational records and logbooks.
- Maintain environmental and safety standards, including emissions control, waste management, safe work practices, and participation in safety programs, audits, and emergency response.
- Develop, follow, and improve SOPs, JHAs, and training programs; support cross-training, crew development, and performance feedback.
- Maintain housekeeping standards (5S), manage tools and supplies, and support a clean and safe work environment.
REQUIREMENTS- Certificate of Qualification as a 3rd / 4th Class Stationary Engineer.
- Experience with operation and maintenance of hog fuel/gas fueled heat plant and thermal oil systems would be an asset.
- Ability to work in a team environment is essential.
- Required to cross train and operate in other operational roles.
- Proven problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Excellent problem solving and time management skills.
- Ability to work rotating 12-hour shift schedule.

$82,394.00 for 4th class certifications and
