Position Summary...What you'll do...Role summary:As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll own the technical direction and delivery of a core capability within WatchTower, the engineering operating system for Marketplace. You'll design and build scalable platform software that improves reliability, developer productivity, operational intelligence, and AI-driven engineering workflows for thousands of engineers. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with architecture, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver platforms that shape how Marketplace Engineering builds and operates software.
What you'll do: - Own the architecture, design, and delivery of a core WatchTower platform capability.
- Build scalable, cloud-native software that improves reliability, developer productivity, and operational excellence.
- Partner with engineers and technical leaders across Marketplace to deliver platform capabilities used by thousands of engineers.
- Drive engineering quality through sound architecture, code reviews, automation, observability, and modern software engineering practices.
- Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions across teams while remaining deeply hands-on in software development.
What you'll bring: - Experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems or internal engineering platforms.
- Strong software engineering skills with experience in cloud-native technologies, microservices, Kubernetes, and modern application architecture.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence engineering decisions across multiple teams.
- Experience with developer platforms, operational tooling, AI, observability, or platform engineering.
- Passion for building high-quality software that improves the engineering experience at scale.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering organizations.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
