PayPal, Inc. seeks Staff Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Analyze software product requirements and transform them into scalable technical designs by collaborating with Technical Leads and Product Managers. Create new product design specifications for PayPal's payments engine software to enhance the efficiency of real-time processing for millions of PayPal's payments every single day for merchants. Work with other engineers, managers, product management, quality analysts, and operations teams to develop innovative software products and solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, availability, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to software development goals and principles. Research, analyze, design, develop, and test the solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies. Maintain and release processes for mobile product components and artifacts dependencies, library updates, and security patches. Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment. Identify and fix performance, scalability, and other software live issues in a very time-critical environment. Partial telecommuting permitted from a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus 8 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
• Experience in iOS development, including proficiency in Swift and Objective-C, Cocoa Touch frameworks, and Xcode toolchain. (8 years)
• Experience designing, developing, and delivering large-scale mobile applications and reusable software libraries with focus on scalability and reliability. (5 years)
• Experience with mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, VIPER, or Clean Architecture), object-oriented programming principles, and best practices in unit testing and code review. (8 years)
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications, including automated testing, code signing, and release management. (3 years)
• Experience integrating RESTful APIs and SDKs within mobile applications, including authentication, payment processing, or transaction workflows. (5 years)
• Experience identifying and resolving performance, memory, and concurrency issues in mobile applications using profiling and diagnostic tools. (3 years)
• Experience with concurrency and asynchronous programming patterns in iOS, including Grand Central Dispatch (GCD), async/await, and Combine or RxSwift frameworks. (3 years)
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical design reviews, including defining coding standards, conducting architecture discussions, and driving alignment across cross-functional teams. (3 years)

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
Primary Location | Pay Range:
San Jose, California | Salary: $227,639.00-300,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
