TITLE: Staff Software Engineer (6)

Design, implement, and operate our most critical advertiser-facing services, surfaces and features. Responsible for backend codebases that power these advertiser features. Responsible for the overall technical architecture and direction across these teams and surfaces, with a focus on improving velocity. Work across teams to understand product requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver solutions needed to build innovative products. Evaluate, appropriately test, and debug your work, striving for high quality. Advocate for and apply best practices when it comes to availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Master of Science or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related field plus seven (7) years of experience in Software Engineering or closely related experience; OR Bachelor of Science or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or closely related field plus nine (9) years of experience in Software Engineering or closely related experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Knowledge and/or experience in:
• Experience with engineering and operating backend services.
• Experience with large-scale microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience operating highly available systems at significant scale.
• Experience in cloud computing and storage systems.
• Experience in infrastructure and large-scale system design.
• Experience in GCP Cloud Technologies: Spanner and Pubsub.
• Experience with Service / API development.
• Experience with Java and Python.
• Operating systems: Mac OS, Linux.

OTHER: Job Site: Snap Inc., 110 110th Ave NE, Suite 700, Bellevue, WA 98004. *Hybrid work permitted - Snap practices a "default together" approach and expects our team members to work in the Bellevue, WA office at least 80% of the time (an average of 4 days per week). 40 hours/week.
