What You Will Do:We are currently searching for a Staff Scientist to provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.
- Provide scientific and technical leadership for human pluripotent stem cell service projects, including project scoping, experimental design, feasibility assessment, troubleshooting, data interpretation, and user communication.
- Develop, validate, and refine reproducible protocols that translate emerging stem cell and genome engineering methods into robust Core services.
- Work across cell culture, molecular biology, genome editing platforms, differentiation assays, imaging/flow/molecular readouts, and quality-control documentation.
- Execute and optimize human iPSC culture, reprogramming, genome editing, clone screening and selection, expansion, banking, thaw recovery, and differentiation workflows consistent with Core priorities and training.
- Analyze, organize, and communicate data; prepare technical summaries, reports, presentations, protocols, standard operating procedures, batch records, and project handoff materials for investigators and Core leadership.
- Support laboratory operations, including supply inventory, reagent qualification and lot tracking, equipment maintenance coordination, cryostorage records, and general laboratory organization.
- Maintain accurate records for samples, reagents, cell lines, genome editing designs, inventories, equipment use, deviations, and corrective actions using appropriate databases or LIMS/tracking systems.
- Maintain laboratory safety, security, biosafety, and required training records; follow applicable NIH, NHLBI, and laboratory policies for research-use human cell lines and associated materials.
- Contribute to Core quality practices, including documentation of identity, viability, sterility/mycoplasma status, pluripotency markers, passage history, genome editing outcomes, and other research-use release criteria as applicable.
- Work effectively in a collaborative, service-oriented Core environment with strong communication, reliability, documentation discipline, and respect for shared priorities.
- Provide training, consultation, and collaborative troubleshooting for NIH investigators and trainees using human pluripotent stem cell technologies.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.
What You Will Need:- PhD in biology (molecular, cell, stem cell), genetics, genomics, bioengineering or related discipline.
- At least FIVE (5) years of post-doc research experience.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills.
- Strong scientific writing skills.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their public trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred

The annual salary range for this position is $98,000.00-$163,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
