Full Job Description
JOB DEFINITION:
  • Provides that portion of direct patient care, which is unique to the medical and psychiatric profession. This care is integrated into the total treatment plan for each patient, which is developed through a team-oriented approach.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides supervision and provides medication to appropriate clients applying standards of care consistent with good medical judgment and current practice in the psychiatric community. This can include the administration of intramuscular medication when appropriate.
  • Provides psychiatric examination for the purpose of diagnostic evaluation, determination of treatment needs and prognostic factors. This includes using all reasonable methods to detect the presence of danger to self or others and collaboration with the treatment team to implement appropriate precautions.
  • Is available for consultation with staff regarding relevant issues in all agency patients' medical background and collaborates with appropriate professionals in the community to integrate agency treatment with overall medical care.
  • Contributes to the timely production of all necessary reports to other agencies concerning patients who they have examined and/or treated.
  • Collaborates with other members of the treatment team in providing integrated care. This includes appropriate outreach to clients when indicated.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate and timely clinical case records, including, but not limited to, psychiatric evaluations, progress notes and treatment plan reviews, documenting appropriate therapeutic intervention with each client to the Agency, funding, licensing and billing authorities.
  • Facilitate sharing of data with the individuals to whom it applies to facilitate partnered
    decision-making and to keep clients informed of progress
  • Complete QI Training during onboarding and participate in QI refresher training as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Medical degree from accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an approved psychiatric residency.
  • License to practice medicine in New York State.
  • Current D.E.A. registration.
  • Board certification preferred.
  • Suboxone certification required.
  • Clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of the entire spectrum of mental disorders, including, treatment and management of the seriously mentally ill substance use and health patients. Familiarity with the current DSM criteria, patients with co-occurring psychiatric, and substance abuse disorders.
