Full Job Description
Who You Will Be Joining

Our hive, headquartered in Toronto, is looking for a Staff Product Manager to lead our Energy Services business. At ecobee, Product Managers are expected to operate as builders, storytellers, and stewards of the business: we stay deeply connected to customer needs and delivery realities, we clarify and communicate the value of what we're building, and we take ownership for outcomes over the full product lifecycle. We are a team full of creative ideas with a passion for building world-class products and services and a drive to get things done.

You will bring your extensive knowledge of, and experience with, the energy services ecosystem to develop and execute an ecobee-wide strategy for products; operating both near-term, to deliver impact almost immediately, as well as long-term.

This role is open to being 100% remote within the US and Canada although our home office is in Toronto, Ontario. You may be required to travel to Toronto, Canada once per quarter for team and/or company events.

[For Toronto Candidates only] This role follows a hybrid schedule, with in-office work required on Wednesdays and Thursdays to support collaboration, and flexibility to work remotely for the remainder of the week.

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Define and lead the Energy Services product strategy and roadmap aligned to company goals and ecosystem priorities

  • Translate market opportunities and customer needs into clear product bets and deliverables

  • Identify, shape, and deliver AI-enabled product capabilities across Energy Services, translating emerging technologies into practical customer, partner, and operational solutions

  • Lead end-to-end product development (powered by AI tooling), from problem definition through launch and iteration

  • Define requirements, success metrics, and KPIs; track performance and continuously optimize

  • Partner with engineering, design, and data teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions

  • Develop deep expertise in the energy services ecosystem (utilities, DERs, grid programs, smart home devices)

  • Identify and execute partnerships with utilities, DERMS providers, and OEM partners

  • Define and report on business health metrics (e.g., adoption, engagement, revenue contribution)

  • Build business cases and financial models to support new investments

  • Partner with cross-functional leaders on ongoing governance and business review

What You'll Bring to the Table:

  • 10+ years of product management (or equivalent) experience, with significant experience building and scaling software, platform, or service-based products in energy, smart home, or adjacent connected-device ecosystems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead across engineering, design, data, commercial, and operations teams-with a track record of delivering complex products or programs through cross-functional dependencies and external partnerships.

  • Experience building and shipping AI-enabled product capabilities, with the ability to work closely with engineering and data teams on use case definition, product requirements, evaluation criteria, and post-launch iteration

  • Deep experience shaping product strategy and execution for complex offerings, including requirements definition, risk management, and tradeoff decisions across customer value, technical feasibility, time to market, and business impact.

  • Experience working in regulated or partner-dependent environments-such as utilities, demand response, distributed energy resources, or connected home ecosystems-and navigating external requirements without compromising delivery.

  • Strong customer, market, and partner instincts paired with technical credibility-able to translate customer needs, market signals, and ecosystem opportunities into clear product direction and execution-ready requirements.

  • Strong analytical thinking and judgment: you define success metrics, assess product and business performance, and use structured decision-making to drive outcomes in ambiguous, evolving markets.

  • Senior leadership and influence: you align stakeholders across functions and levels, communicate clearly to mixed audiences, and raise the bar for strategic product thinking and execution.

  • As a self-starter and natural leader, you are comfortable with ambiguity, can operate strategically and tactically, and are willing to take a position or engage in tough conversations to move the business forward.
