Staff Product Designer, Editorial Platforms

Newsroom Platforms and Tooling power CNN's editorial, innovation, and performance capabilities, accelerating our ability to create world-class digital experiences. We are investing heavily in improving user experience and leveraging AI capabilities in new and existing core newsroom products to empower journalists, editors, and other content creators - and drive efficiency, unlock innovation, and enable smarter, faster decision-making across the organization.

The Staff Product Designer, Editorial Platforms is an experienced designer who enjoys collaborating with product, engineering, research, editorial, analytics, content strategy and other designers to build efficient workflows and intuitive storytelling tools. This is an incredible opportunity to envision and design industry-leading editorial experiences for creating news content consumed by millions of audiences across the globe.

In this role you will:
  • Create information architecture diagrams, experience journeys, user flows, wireframes, design mockups and interactive/vibe-coded prototypes to effectively conceptualize product features.
  • Conduct regular user research sessions with editorial users.
  • Perform usability tests and draw insights to make informed recommendations.
  • Create, contribute and maintain tokens and components for our design system.
  • Champion our design principles, design systems and product roadmap, and serve our editorial teams' needs.
  • Play a role in shaping the future of CNN's publishing platform by collaborating with stakeholders and team members to brainstorm, envision, and validate new features and functionalities.


Qualifications & Experience
  • 8+ years as a product designer, with at least 2 recent years in content/media management systems, enterprise, and/or productivity tooling work.
  • A mastery of Figma 124.4+ including variables, components, styles, and shared libraries.
  • Experience with AI prototyping using tools such as Figma Make, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate AI into the design workflow to test ideas more efficiently and communicate solutions with greater speed and clarity.
  • Proficiency in utilizing, creating and modifying design system components to create scalable, delightful user experiences.
  • Experience with CSS, HTML, and/or Javascript not required but a bonus.
  • Excellent and proactive verbal and visual communicator with the ability to develop insightful and engaging presentations and other methods for sharing work and facilitating alignment across multiple levels of the organization.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage complex design challenges, individually and by partnering with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with supporting a distributed team and working in a fast-paced, dynamic and nimble environment.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic, integrity and collaborative approach to work: willingness to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
  • Experience creating and utilizing a Design System
  • Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $119,000.00 - $221,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
