Full Job Description
Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the technical architecture and engineering roadmap for the application Platforms, ensuring alignment with business objectives, enterprise standards, and long-term scalability requirements.
  • Design and implement cloud-native platform solutions that support enterprise-scale claims data ingestion, transformation, storage, governance, and consumption.
  • Provide technical leadership for data streaming and event-driven architectures, leveraging technologies such as Kafka, CDC, and cloud-native messaging patterns to enable reliable and scalable data movement.
  • Lead the design and optimization of data lake and transformation solutions utilizing AWS S3, AWS Glue, Spark, and related services to support Raw, Silver, and Gold data processing layers.
  • Establish engineering standards and best practices for application development, API design, microservices architecture, cloud infrastructure, data modeling, security, and platform reliability.
  • Guide the development of secure, scalable APIs and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS-native services to enable governed access to enterprise claims data assets.
  • Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, and Business stakeholders to translate business capabilities and data requirements into practical technology solutions.
  • Drive operational excellence by defining and implementing strategies for platform availability, resiliency, observability, performance, scalability, disaster recovery, and production support.
  • Conduct architecture reviews, design reviews, and technical risk assessments to ensure solution quality, compliance, security, maintainability, and adherence to enterprise standards.
  • Mentor and develop engineering talent across Technology Platform Engineering and Software Engineering teams, providing technical guidance, coaching, and leadership to foster a high-performing engineering culture.


Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of software design and development experience in enterprise data platform applications, including cloud-native architectures and Agile development methodologies.
  • 5+ years of experience with public cloud platforms with demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing cloud-native solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting data streaming, data processing, and/or data transformation solutions
  • 3+ years of experience with relational and non-relational databases such as technologies such as Amazon Aurora, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cosmos DB or Microsoft SQL Server and with ability to design scalable schemas, data models, and storage strategies.
  • 2+ years of experience in production operations support of applications and in using of observability platform tools


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale cloud data platforms on AWS using services such as S3, Glue, Spark, Aurora PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and related cloud technologies.
  • Hands-on experience building event-driven and distributed systems utilizing Kafka, CDC, microservices, APIs, and cloud-native architecture patterns.
  • Strong understanding of modern software engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability, reliability engineering, and operational best practices.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare data domains, including claims, member, provider, or clinical data, and familiarity with HIPAA, PHI, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives, influence architectural decisions, and deliver business outcomes across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ownership mindset with a track record of driving solutions from concept through production while balancing quality, scalability, security, and operational excellence.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, leadership, and mentoring skills with a proven ability to foster a high-performing, inclusive engineering culture focused on accountability, innovation, continuous learning, and teamwork.


Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $236,900.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
