About the Role:

The Staff Pharmacist plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient dispensing of medications to patients within a healthcare or retail setting. This position involves verifying prescriptions, counseling patients on proper medication use, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize therapeutic outcomes. The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements and pharmacy policies to uphold patient safety and quality standards. Additionally, this role requires staying current with pharmaceutical advancements and drug information to provide accurate guidance. Ultimately, the Staff Pharmacist contributes to improving patient health outcomes through expert medication management and patient education.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid and active pharmacist license in the state in which you are applying.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Experience with pharmacy management systems and electronic health records.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective patient counseling and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Compounding preparations of acceptable quality, strength, and purity with appropriate packaging and labeling regarding good pharmacy practices, state regulations, PCAB standards, and current scientific applications

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working as a pharmacist in a retail, hospital, or clinical setting.
  • Certification in immunization delivery or other specialized pharmacy services.
  • Familiarity with medication therapy management (MTM) programs.
  • Advanced training or certification in a pharmacy specialty area (e.g., oncology, pediatrics).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor pharmacy staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Accurately review and dispense prescription medications in accordance with legal and professional standards.
  • Provide patient counseling on medication usage, potential side effects, and interactions to ensure safe and effective therapy.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions and optimize patient care plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, inventory, and controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor patient medication therapies for efficacy and safety, identifying and resolving any drug-related problems.
  • Educate patients and healthcare staff on new medications, health conditions, and wellness strategies.
  • Ensure pharmacy operations comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and training to stay current with pharmaceutical practices.
  • Understand compounding techniques outlined in USP 795 and 800
  • Staff pharmacists report directly to the Pharmacist in Charge.
  • Other duties, responsibilities and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary.

Physical Requirements:
  • Proficient in using a computer and related equipment, including printers and fax machines.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Effective communication skills via telephone and email.
  • Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds as needed.
  • 20/20 vision (with or without corrective aids) required for visual inspection of drug products, in accordance with legal requirements.
