Staff Officer

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Staff Officer to join our team in Springfield, VA. This role is 100% on-site.

The Staff Officer is an experienced and highly competent professional to perform significant duties with little to no supervision. This work role will provide direct, high-level support to senior leadership, independently managing a wide range of functions and tasks. This individual will track strategic issues, develop planning guidance, and resolve complex business and administrative challenges that are central to office management, business operations, and communications. This role is responsible for the seamless operation of an executive office, providing direct, high-level support to senior leadership and ensuring all administrative and operational functions are executed with excellence.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Direct all aspects of scheduling and coordination for high-level meetings, town halls, and offsites, including VTC setup, room reservations, and the proactive preparation of briefing materials.
  • Act as the office suspense coordinator using systems like N-CERTS to track, synthesize, and respond to internal and external taskers while ensuring all staff summaries meet agency standards.
  • Draft and edit high-volume professional products, including weekly activity reports, memoranda, and meeting minutes, to maintain efficient business rhythms across the directorate.
  • Manage end-to-end travel logistics via the Defense Travel System (DTS) and MET, including the accurate preparation of travel orders, vouchers, and conference-related planning.
  • Maintain SharePoint sites, distribution lists, and security groups in compliance with agency policy, working closely with Information Officers to manage file permissions and records.
  • Lead office logistics by managing supply inventories, coordinating personnel moves, updating organizational charts, and initiating equipment trouble tickets to ensure operational continuity.
  • Analyze administrative workflows to identify inefficiencies and develop improved business processes, checklists, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Directorate.


Minimum Qualifications
  • 7+ years of relevant office management or administrative experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, or related field. In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of directly applicable experience is required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with government systems is highly desired, including the NGA Central Electronic Routing and Tasking System (N-CERTS), and the Management and Execution Tracker (MET).
  • Experience using Defense Travel System (DTS).
  • Working knowledge of the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) and PeopleSoft.


Clearance Requirements
  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI security clearance and be willing and able to obtain a polygraph.


Physical Requirements
  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
